Wax seal stamp anyone?

FutureMrsB, on September 20, 2018 at 7:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 18
As many of us know, the men don’t really help us with much of the wedding stuff.. so I thought I would get something fun that we could both work on together. I ordered a wax seal stamp off of Etsy and we LOVE IT! We are gonna have so much fun stamping and sealing the invites!

We did 92 wax seals on my daughter’s pocket folders for her invitation suites. It was fun!

We did the wax seal on a ribbon as the belly band. It took much longer than we thought but looked great! No added postage doing them on the inside.

No added postage for us either but it’s always best to take a piece into the post office to make sure.

We had fun doing it and spread it out over the week (4 days to do 98). FH cut ribbons, I wax sealed, then he sealed them in the envelope. This is not one of my better seals so it went in the single male friend pile!

So I hear ld that the extra postage is not for the weight but the wax seal gets broken when passed through machine vs hand stamped

I like that a lot!! Thankfully we have half the amount to do! FH wants to put all the wax in a pot to melt that way its ready and then do one stamp at a time.. It might help with the time. Smiley smile

We used the wax glue that you put in a glue gun. The wax glue is pliable enough to go through the USPS sorters, so it did not require hand cancellation. My daughter took a completed one up to the post office before purchasing stamps. Ours were also not on the outside of the mailing envelope. Took us a couple hours to complete all of them.

Seals drying before being stuffed into outer envelopes....Wax seal stamp anyone? 4

I considered doing these but later changed my theme so to me it no longer worked. I heavily researched it though lol. If you don’t mind an extra envelop try using and outer envelope so all of your hard work doesn’t get ruined. It should go through the machine easier and avoid breaking it

I send almost all my cards with wax seals using the pellets and melting spoon and it doesn’t take nearly as long as the candlestick style wax sticks, but I’m planning on doing the wax sticks that go into a hot glue gun for my wedding invites. It’ll hopefully make the process so much quicker to just squeeze out a dollop of wax instead of waiting for it to melt slowly. For anyone wanting to do them in the future, that may be worth looking into.

I also use the Uniqooo brand wax sticks and I’ve never had an issue with them breaking like I’ve heard other people have experienced. It’s a more flexible wax than the traditional sealing wax so it doesn’t break or crack. It got slightly smudged once when I sent a card during the summer in Alabama, but you could still make out the design and all other cards have turned out well. I just seal my envelopes like normal them add the wax seal on the back without any extra protection. I use the nonmachinable stamp or a forever stamp plus an extra ounce stamp because the wax makes it nonmachinable, but I just stick them in my mailbox to go out without giving the postal worker any additional info or instructions.
