Waxing......you know where

Okay so I'm considering getting a Brazilian wax for the wedding night. But I am freaking SCARED! I'm uncomfortable with the whole thing and terrified it will hurt SO bad. Is it worth it ladies? What's the best advice?

Do it. It's uncomfortable but totally tolerable. Also they do it all so quickly that before you know it it's done. Schedule at least 2 sessions spaced a month apart. Exfoliating between sessions (and in general) helps to prevent ingrown hairs. Don't shave between sessions and make sure you don't shave for 2-3 weeks before your appointment.

I'm allergic to something in the process of waxing. Not sure if it's the wax itself or the cooling stuff they use...so I just shave. Not taking the chance on my....lol

Just a recommendation, I would go for hard wax (stripless wax). Using this type of wax is a lot less painful.

This thread just gave me the courage to get my first wax! Went to European Wax Center and will be there two more times before the big day. It hurt a lot to be honest. It's over so quickly though that it wasn't that big of a deal. Really hoping it gets better next time.

My experience is probably uncommon, but waxing is not for me. I have veryyy thick and course hair. I went to a place recommend by most of my friends. The first time was terrible (i.e., pain, bleeding, tears), and I tried it a few more times and it was just as bad. My hair also grows back very quickly, so the first day its nice and smooth but Im sore as hell. The next day, Im still a bit sore but not as bad. Third day is okay. Then it is crazy fucking itchy until it grows back. I also get more ingrown hairs when I wax as opposed to shaving (with a good razor).

I'm right there with you, Emily U.! I've been thing the same exact thing. I want to do it though, because I know my FH will be happy and surprised. Also, I'm going to probably do it a week before the big day and definitely go to European Wax.

Depends where you do it. I have learned from previous experience to inquire about their process. The usual spa that did my last waxing used two kinds of wax for the outside which hurts less and the inside which hurts more. The spa I used before that used one wax for every area and it hurt so much that sexy time was no fun for a couple days.

OF COURSE I expected it to hurt. I'm an adult and have had lots of things waxed before. But it was more pain than childbirth. Seriously. And more pain than getting my IUD inserted. I was sweating so bad from the pain the paper on the table beneath me got all soggy, and I had to ask her to stop 3/4 of the way into it. Just couldn't make it through. It was too overwhelming. And the pain didn't go away instantly, it lasted most of the day. I left in tears. Who knows, maybe the wax she used was too hot. Or I am more sensitive down there. She did say I have thicker/coarser hair than most. But it was TERRIBLE. I'm done. I'll shave, thanks.

I've had nothing but issues with sugaring. I've had it done four times, exfoliated, used tend skin, done everything you're supposed to do, and I still get ingrowns like crazy. I never had ingrowns when I shaved, and I tend to only stay smooth for a week when I wax. The ingrowns are just so gross looking that I think I'll stick to shaving. Good luck!!

As an esthetician who works at European Wax Center, this post made me smile and I definitely recommend you do it! Everyone is right. Don't do your first one right before your wedding. I'd go in March, April and then right before your wedding. Please please please listen to the girls and their recommendations product wise because they truly do work and help achieve the waxing results you'll want! They will ask for 14 days of hair growth before the first wax and then every 4 weeks in between that. No matter what color level (I'm an orange waxer), they have the same training and know what they're doing! You'll love it, I promise! Smiley smile
