We can't agree on a honeymoon destination?!

Anon1, on September 21, 2015 at 11:52 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 7

I want to go somewhere cultural and artsy, like London or New Orleans. He seems to want something completely different - his latest destination of choice is Las Vegas. While I'm sure there's plenty to do there, that's not what I'd call a romantic destination ... to me it seems more like a bachelor party destination. (At least we both agree that we hate beaches).

What do we do?? We are running out of time to figure this out!

Is someone gifting you a honeymoon bc the examples you gave have pretty big price differences like London & New Orleans. I guess it depends on a lot where you live. New Orleans have a lot of the same perks as Vegas (alcohol 24/7, gambling, night life) but NOLA will have more culture and better food. But i would go what best fits the budget getting the most for your money.

I agree with FFW, it sounds like New Orleans would be a great compromise since it has the fun night life and such and history. Though I'm not sure it's particularly romantic.

Las Vegas can definitely be romantic if you want it to be. There are tons of honeymoon packages and fancy pools and spas and things like that. But there's not much culture there.

If you're thinking of going out of the country, Japan might be kind of cool, there's a lot of culture and also kind of a busy city feel too. Not sure what exactly your FH likes about Vegas but if it's the city feel that might be good. And if that's too far, what about just NYC?

Pick a few choices each, put in a hat and choose Smiley smile

I know some people don't enjoy this for a honeymoon, but maybe you could do some kind of road trip so you can visit a few different places.

I also like JCC's idea of throwing destinations into a hat and picking one. That could be fun.

Have you guys decided on a budget? That will largely dictate what you can afford. London vs New Orleans/Las Vegas are vastly different in terms of flight and hotel costs. I would suggest you first decide how much you can spend, then look at the cost for flights and hotels- that will then guide you where you can go.

I also agree though. Vegas is not romantic. Tell him you guys can go there to celebrate your 1 year anniversary Smiley smile Vegas is great for a long weekend so you can always visit later. Not sure how long you plan to go on your honeymoon for, but Vegas gets boring and exhausting after 3 days.

Re-pitch New Orleans to him! It has a huge Harrah's casino so maybe you can sell him on it being the "best of both worlds", culture + casino!
