We can't decide on a theme ...

Amanda, on January 28, 2017 at 10:09 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 21

We chose a venue that we absolutely fell in love with . Now we can't decide on a theme we are considering masquerade but I'm feeling I'd rather go a little more vintage. Does anybody have an ideas or opinions on a theme that would go with our venue ? Our colors are white and black and either gold or ivory ...

Do you need a theme? What colors schemes have you looked at? I planned my wedding around colors and not a real theme.

The place looks very industrial so you could play that up with an interesting color theme. I'm sure you can create whatever atmosphere you want though. Do what makes you happy!

I don't think you need a theme as much as just play with the style of the space.

Also, I don't mean to sound creepy but... is that in Manayunk??

@Amanda we toured that venue!! We liked the vibe, it was definitely our style... just didn't work out to have everything we wanted. Good pick!

Also, don't forget to change your avatar on mobile so we can get to know you better!

No theme is needed. The space is more a modern industrial look, and if I had that I would play off of that. Have you considered a moveable backdrop to separate spaces? I think I've seen something like it on Pinterest or Brides.

Do you need a theme, no; but I think having a theme or colors in mind certainly helps in decor planning.

Themes are for kid birthday parties. You don't need a theme! Pick a color scheme you like and pick a "feel" - rustic? vintage? elegant? classy? shabby-chic? That's better than a "theme".

Why do you need a theme? I have my venues and as we pick out decorations I'm learning I lean towards a romantic feel. Just plan what you want

Your theme should be "allowing vendors to comment because there's no reason to exclude them"

Ours is Galaxy so lots of blues and purples. I think there is a thing on WW that allows you to put together ideas for different colors. You can do it by season too I think.

Don't be pressured for a theme so you get boxed in. For instance my FH is a contractor, he also makes furniture/jewelery/welds. Since it's a wedding I also wanted romance so Victorian Romance + industrial...Well that's steampunk!

It's more a guideline than a theme. Pretty much doing same rich red and brown fall colors with mettalics for the "industrial" side of it. There will be a hint of gears, keys and old luggage/bottles in the decor but overall it's just a guideline.

You know your colors, just go from there!
