WE DID IT!! Our original date was 05/03/2020 and after postponing and changing pretty much EVERYTHING we finally made it happen on 07/11/2020! So much changed from our original plan including our venue and a significantly smaller guest list (49 people). We truly trusted in God’s plan for our wedding and I wouldn’t change a thing (other than maybe my DJ who lied to me saying he had a fever the day before my wedding but then set up all of the stuff I was supposed to have at another brides wedding lol).

Pulling off this wedding has been the biggest weight off of my shoulders. I know there are so many circumstances that effect each bride differently causing us all to make the decision that is best for us. I hope and pray that each and every one of us can pull this off and in 10 years we will all be married and looking back on these crazy times and seeing the lessons we learned and the struggles that made us stronger as couples. My favorite moment from our wedding was the last dance where everyone left and we danced alone. It was pretty much me and my husband slow dancing and crying into eachother’s shoulders the whole time saying “We made it!!” and “We finally did it!!”.

A few things from my wedding that I want to share that aren't necessarily traditional but may give ya'll some ideas:

1. We did a vow reading after our first look with just the two of us. It was perfect and the vows were tailored to each other rather than trying to appease the guests by reading them during the ceremony. This way I wouldn't have to worry about crying (which I did) and trying to keep my composure during the ceremony.

2. I almost passed out moments before walking down the isle because of nerves. I felt weightless and couldn't really feel my legs. I prayed out loud standing there with my dad that God wouldn't let me be that bride that passes out walking down the isle. After everything we went through to the get to this wedding I did NOT want that to be the highlight. LOL

3. My husband is a big milk drinker so after we cut the cake, I had them deliver a half gallon of milk to us to share while eating our cake. It was hilarious and he really enjoyed that personal surprise.

4. Somehow we ended up dancing to single ladies alone on the dance floor flashing our rings at each other saying "If you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it" This was our official second dance I guess? LOL.

5. GLASSES BRIDES! Glasses give me confidence so I wore them the whole time, but I did ask my photographer for some bride and groom portraits along with a family shot WITHOUT glasses so that if I hate my glasses style in 20 years I have some photos without!

Long story short: I specifically wanted a mirror photobooth for my wedding and DJ set up and I made sure that it was what I was getting when I signed the contract (DJ and photobooth bundle). The day before my wedding, my DJ texted me that he had a fever and that he would have to give me a backup DJ and photobooth, which I was fine with because I didn’t want someone with a fever at my wedding. The backup DJ did just fine but with a very amateur setup and the photobooth was not what I wanted at all. Let’s just say I didn’t get what I paid for. I accepted this as what it was because I understood that he had a fever and stuff happens! Turns out a couple days after the wedding I went on their Facebook and saw the exact setup that I paid for at another wedding on the exact same day? I happened to know the venue owner and reached out to her. She confirmed that he was there the whole night (which he denied) and that the mirror photo booth was there too. I respectfully called him out on it not expecting anything other than an explanation. Instead he just continued to lie and offered me a 50% refund instead of explaining himself. He is a very highly ranked DJ on this site and I actually found him on here. The sad part is my DJ situation was a mess from the start. My first DJ didn’t have my new date available, my second DJ cancelled on me because he was possibly exposed to COVID (very nice guy) and then my 3rd DJ lied to me so the DJ at my wedding was my 4th DJ that I didn’t even choose! Lol! She did great, but the situation that got her there was unacceptable. I’m still kind of mad at him for taking away something from me, although it be small, I had been dreaming of a mirror photobooth since my friend had it at her wedding a while ago and now I will never have that. It’s very disappointing that people get away with stuff like this. I won’t let him take the joy from my day though!!! I’m finally married to the love of my life and he gets to live with himself and his deceptive business practices!

Wow yea I'd be pretty mad to. That is so very unprofessional. And the fact that he had great reviews on here. That is just so upsetting. But like you said definitely not worth ruining your moment for. Unfortunately he probably has done that quite a few times and more than likely doesn't care. He is only in it for the money and doesn't seem to care about his customers. And he will continue to lie probably because he doesn't want to get sued so lying and offering 50% back he feels might save him from going to court.

Oh my gosh! I love this!!!!! Congratulations! I love how you made the best out of an uncertain pandemic. We were supposed to get married in May as well and we’ve postponed to Aug 23rd. I’ve been feeling anxious about having to cut our guest list to parents only (amongst other things) and your post was a great reminder that God’s got this. I have been praying when I felt worried and this is just another reminder that He has a perfect plan. You look absolutely gorgeous and I love how you made things fun. (I might steal the milk idea lol!) I wish you both the very best and may God bless your marriage.
    Congrats again!! ❤️

I LOVE THIS!! i have been searching and searching for another couple that is doing the same thing we will be. We got married with just our parents there and saved our vows, my dress, everything that we could to make our date in august 2020 as real and special as possible. But we both have always wanted to do a first look and save our vows for just us and have our videographer there to capture it. We aren't big public speakers and just really want that moment to not be about being nervous but that its a moment for us to make those vows to one another in the comfort o each others presence. What did you guys do during your ceremony? did your officiant treat it like a normal ceremony or did you do things differently since you already got married and had said your vows prior to the ceremony? any ideas and tips would be soooooo helpful! Congrats to you both!!

We saved our actual marriage for 07/11/2020, so we weren’t actually married until our wedding day! I am so happy to hear that y’all saved the special parts like vows and your dress for the celebration though, you will not regret it! We juggled getting married at the courts and then having a bigger celebrating later, but we decided to wait and try to pull off a smaller scale wedding with immediate family and close friends (49 people) instead and just forfeit the big party all together. I definitely recommend the private vow exchange though! Our ceremony was a traditional ceremony with simple exchange of vows with communion and private prayer. I didn’t want to write my vows for the audience, which I feel like some people subconsciously do, I wanted to write them directly to my husband and just be in that moment with him before we tied the knot at the ceremony! Blessings to you and your almost husband! I hope that your celebration in August is magical and perfect! What’s your guest count? And are you having a dance floor and dancing? Smiley smile
