We did not do save the date invitations

Mrs.evans, on July 30, 2021 at 2:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 29
Hi ladies we decided not to do save the date invitations because it was more money to spend we already have kick out alot. Plus we have our photographers just did want the added expense. And just going to take some pics and attach them with a reminder of the date. Our wedding is next year in June we didn't feel that it was need. So we will have I invitations and then social media reminders or text. Am I alone here please share yes or no

I did a virtual save the date that was almost free. We had engagement photos free from our photography package and used one but you could not do an image too. The first 50 were free so we only sent it to one person of the "couple" as an fyi for the date. Most people will have to travel a few hours and it's a Friday wedding so we wanted to give guests a heads up.

Our friends didn't send a STD and their wedding is this October. They just sent their invites early-mid July!

I think save the dates are only important if you're having a destination wedding OR you have a lot of guests coming from out of town. I didn't send them for my wedding in 2012 because ~95% of the guests were in the same city, with the other ~5% were coming from Louisiana, no more than 2 hours away. This time I have friends flying in from Michigan, Illinois, Nevada, Oregon, and California, so I sent save the dates.

I'm sending them because there is some family out of state and some friends who probably have a ton of other wedding invites since we are at that age where everyone is getting married

You should be fine then! Just be sure to send invites 6-8 weeks before the wedding.

Many couples do not do the postcard/magnets trend but they will call their guests to give everyone a heads up which costs nothing. Then send invites at the standard 6-8 weeks before the wedding. If you send them earlier, people will forget and assume you are B listing

No I never did save the dates, I see them as a waste of money. Our wedding is in 14 days and we had a great turn out of rsvps

I didn’t do save the dates and just did invites with no photos.

I’m getting married in October and just sent invites out (well, most of them), last week. We might do photos with thank you cards.
Not doing save the dates has led to some interesting responses from relatives we apparently forgot to tell though. 🤣

STDs are not needed at all, as long as your VIP's know of the date by word of mouth or email. Invitations go out 6-8 weeks ahead of the wedding, so sending in Feb or March will run the risk of people forgetting about them or losing the RSVP cards etc.

Hi thank you for your helpful comment and some ppl also have just used there STD invitations as there invites. My son had use his as invites I had to put the date in my phone so I won't forget. And plus the did remind me so they can have a headcount. We just don't want to waste unnecessary money. So what we will do will send out the invitations and the month of sending them out to just give a friendly reminder give a reply. Thank you again happy planning

You can do virtual Save the Dates for free. We sent virtual STDs via email and it cost us absolutely nothing but the time design them and make sure we had everyone's email addresses. STDs usually go out 6 months before the wedding, so if your wedding is not for another year you have plenty of time to get them out.

I do think you should send something (whether virtually or via snail mail). If you skip sending STDs and just send an invite 8 weeks before your event, people might feel like a last minute add on, or may have too little time to make appropriate plans to attend.
