We Don't Have A Song 8( How did you get y'alls song for your first dance?

Me and FH literally went through the list on here under the top link "songs" and "first dance" and found the one we wanted. There are so many out there and sometimes you don't have to have a specific song. We love "Your Song" by Elton John, coincidence? hehe. Some people have a song, some people don't, I think it should be special to the both of you and you can pick it together :-)

We just looked over songs etc and i narrowed it down to maybe 5 then i basically picked on my own, he only had 1 song to input but i didnt feel it was exactly "wedding"-ish...we dont have "a song" either so we just went with one we liked and now that we have practiced to it for months its become "our song" if you will LOL

We never had 'our song' (although DH now calls our song the one I walked down the aisle to), but originally I wanted a Beatles theme, so I had all Beatles music picked out (When I'm 64 for the first dance). It's just really cute and I really like the words. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to suit you, and your relationship. Look up lyrics, find what works for you, and whatever kind of 'vibe' you're going for.

Ours is God Bless the Broken Road. it just fits us.

I wanted to pick "I wont Give Up" but some lil bird told me hes singing it to me the day of..I can't wait for that he doesn't know I know. I wouldn't want to make guest hear it twice.

FH and I LOVE jazz music. We both have a family connection to it, so when we first started dating, I would cook him dinner and he would dance to Jazz with me in the kitchen. This one song kept playing on our Pandora station, and we were really drawn to the lyrics and the melody. It just sort of became the song we would dance to, every time we would be playing jazz on Pandora. We danced to it on our second date, and we will dance to it on our wedding day! A Kiss To Build A Dream On- Louis Armstrong!

We looked up certain artists on YouTube (we knew we wanted a country song) and narrowed it down to two songs that we both liked, one had a little faster pace. So we put each song on and danced to them, we chose the easier song to dance to and I couldn't be happier with our selection.

Me and FH don't necessarily have a song that is "our song". How me and FH chose was we both wanted something that wasn't common and one day we was just talking about Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls and apparently when that song first came out we were both so crazy about it and we didn't even know each other at that time so we decided that would be the song

We don't have a "song" But the song we are dancing to is just so us and how we feel about each other so I pick it

We didn't have a song and we weren't going to do a first dance. Then we were putting together our playlist last Sunday and BOOM! We found it! We decided to do a first dance and both of us were into it!

We wanted something timeless. We've never had "our song" so we just kept our ears open for an oldie but goodie that spoke to us. We planned to use Fred Astaire's "Heaven/Dancing Cheek to Cheek" but then we randomly heard Louie Armstrong's "A Kiss to Build a Dream On" one day and that was that.

We don't have a song either, fh is not sappy at all, so most love songs don't really do much to him unless I react a certain way to it, lol. He loves the music to our first dance song, and I love the words, so trial and error. We are dancing to "He Loves Me" by Jill Scott.

FH and I have always had Friday night "listening parties". He is an avid record collector and we both grew up surrounded by music. We associate music with everything - happy moments in life as well as sad ones. When FH asked me to marry him, after I said yes, the first thing out of his mouth was "What do you want to listen to? Right now! How do you feel? What song?" I usually can't make up my mind for anything, but the first thing out of my mouth was "In My Life" by the Beatles. He pulled it out, put it on and then we danced to it in our living room (which is HUGE because FH is NOT sappy at all and is never one to dance.) The lyrics fit us perfectly and when it came time pick a first dance, there was no other song we even considered.

Hello just some advise on first dance songs. Make it something that describes how you feel about each other,that first glance,feeling and go from there. Once you have danced the first song then it becomes your song. Check out Youtube and type in first dance weddings and see what pop's up that should get the ball rolling.

We didn't have a "our song" either...I wanted a song by one of our favorite singer/bands. My favorite singer, matt nathanson does not sing love songs. Maroon 5 does not sing love songs. I also wanted a song that not everybody & their brother has as their first dance song. We decided on You & Me by Dave Matthews. It describes us, its the vibe of music we like, and we love Dave...so it fits us perfect!

"Our song" is 'Friends in Low Places,' so not exactly a first dance type of song... more like an end of the evening swaying with your cup in the air type of song So we (I) picked 'We've only just begun' from the Carpenters, Which i've loved since i was a kid.

We are older folks and many of guests will be too, so we wanted something classic and one day FH texted me and said "how about At Last" I know it's being done a lot, but I just love that song and it's perfect for our first dance cause it too both of us forever to find each other!

We were the same way (well, before we were engaged). Close to the time we started talking about getting married I thought, I wonder if we'll have our song. Then, we talked about getting engaged, and then we went an chose the ring. It's funny the things that you think about, but that's one of the things I thought about...we don't have "a song" that's ours...I wonder if we will. Anyway, FH found the song, played it, we danced, and he said...I think this is our song. It's "At Last" by Etta James, and it totally fits.
