Wear my dress now or later

Crystal, on October 17, 2020 at 3:20 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 7
We decided to get married in church with just our parents and siblings present in December and have postponed our reception to March (still not open in LA County).
Originally I planned to wear a simple dress in December and save my dress (still not altered) for our party since we may do an outdoor ceremony before the reception so others can attend later.
Now I'm having a tough time thinking what if I never get a chance to wear my dress? Am I going to "save" it for a party that may never get to happen? I love it so much I want to wear it to something that will be all day with photos and all. Our church ceremony will be small and short and I wouldn't want to wear it twice/for both events. It was very expensive and it's my dream dress. But I also have less than 2 months to get it altered.
Should I wear it for the elopement now? (Not hiring photographer, only doing video)Or save it for the bigger celebration? (Risk not wearing it at all if things don't go back to normal)

Things will go back to being open, it just may not happen in March. Would you be okay with wearing the dress twice? If you're okay then I say wear it to both.

We had a minimony in October and I wore a simple white dress. Our big wedding is scheduled for March and that's where I plan on wearing my big dress.
My husband and I decided that if we can't have the big celebration that we want in March, we would just postpone to a later date.

If its so expensive, you SHOULD wear it twice! I think it would be nice to have that feeling of being a bride even if its such a short time, and wear it later for the big party ... i think its crazy how much people spend on one dress for such a short time your wearing it! I say get as much time in it as you can! 😁

Most women only get to wear it once so if get to for multiple times, wear it as long and often as you can

I would wear it twice. Most women would love to wear their gown again and if it’s only your prenatal and siblings they won’t care.

I agree with this. If tou spent what was a lot of money to you, then wear it as much as possible.

I say wear it twice! For one, you want to maximize your value out of it since you spent so much money. Two, not many brides get to wear their dress twice so this is a great opportunity to wear it more than once. Three, you probably feel amazing in it, as a bride should in their dress, so you should wear it so you feel like a princess on your wedding day(s). Also, two months is actually the right amount of time for alterations, typically there are 2-3 appointments where the last is a few days to a couple weeks before the day, so you have time.

I wore my dress for my minimony two weeks ago and do not regret it at all. I was so happy to see my groom wowed by it. I did change for dinner, so I wouldn't spill anything on the expensive dress before next year's reception, but I'm so happy I wore it for the two hours of ceremony and pictures. I felt like a goddess while wearing it!
