Wearing glasses at the ceremony?

Aubriana, on February 4, 2014 at 7:24 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 34

Hey all, so I wear glasses every day 24/7 (whenever I'm not sleeping obviously) and I can't really see without them and I would like a clear vision of my Husband-to-be when I'm walking down the isle.

Is it usual to wear glasses at the ceremony or should I invest in expensive prescription contacts that I will only wear once and probably only for a few hours? I'm thinking wearing them wouldn't be such a big deal.

Totally just wear your glasses! A lot of people splurge and get cute frames for their wedding day. While I've got no issues with people who wear contacts just for their wedding day, I'd like to think that glasses are just part of your attire, and you can still look and feel like your best self while rocking some glasses.

It's completely up to you! I also wear my glasses 99% of the time, but occasionally I do get super dolled up and wear contacts. I will probably go without glasses on the wedding day, but I loved these photos I found on pinterest as bridal glasses inspiration!

There are two ways of looking at this. (1) Personally, I think the beauty shines through a lot more without glasses than with glasses. (2) It's always cool to look like yourself. Here's my friend Jilly. She opted to go without her glasses for some of the pro pics, but she's very pretty, so even in her glasses, she looks great.

I will have my glasses on. I wear them 24/7 also. Contacts drive me insane so it would be a waste of money for me to buy them. Not to mention I look nothing like myself without my glasses.

I would be comfortable. If you've never worn contacts, you might not like them at first. Try to get them early so you get used to them.

I personally hate contacts. I find them annoying. I can, however, see for about 20 minutes without my glasses before my eyes get unfocused, so I'm not wearing them during the ceremony (but I'm sure as heck putting them back on for the reception).

@Kristen Thanks for showing me that, I will think about doing something cute like that or just stick with my regular plastic framed glasses, I should be getting a new pair before the wedding anyways.

@Karen They are both a very cute couple and they looked amazing on their wedding day!

Yeah, my future sister-in-law wears contacts for special occasions (like weddings, including her own), but she really doesn't like them. I get why she wore them for her wedding, but if you prefer glasses and like how you look in them, might as well be yourself and look yourself for your own wedding!

For the record, I wear contacts and love them because I HATE wearing my glasses. When I wear my glasses, I feel like there's another person in the mirror, and I'm terribly uncomfortable. I figure that's how people feel when they prefer wearing glasses and have to wear contacts.

I wore contacts back in high school so I am familiar with them and they feel fine, I just don't know if they are worth paying for to wear one day.

The good thing is that if you do decide to buy contacts to try them out before the wedding, you won't be out too much money if you opt to stick with your glasses. My Acuvue contacts are only like 20 bucks. You'd just have to pay for the optometrist visit and you should go once a year anyway.

That's pretty cheap! I only see an optometrist once every 2-3 years, that's the time they told me for my eyes I guess, everyone is different. But that time is here again so I will definitely go see one again before the wedding.

I'll be wearing glasses. I always wear my glasses, I look much better with them on, and I don't like wearing contacts.

I'm considering getting another pair specifically for the wedding.

If you already had the contracts I would say wear those. Since you don't, I would just wear the glasses. I wear glasses, but my eyesight isn't bad enough that I have to wear them all the time, so I won't be wearing them at my wedding.

I am strongly considering wearing them now. When I go this year for a new pair I will pick a pair that would look appropriate for the wedding and everyday life. Smiley smile

I am absolutely wearing my glasses for my wedding. I have worn them all day everyday since middle school so they are essentially a part of my face. I want to look like myself when I get married so I'm not going to go blind or get contacts just for a few hours.

I just got new glasses for my wedding at the end of the month. I will wear them during the ceremony, choose a frameless pair, I thought it might be nice to have them be less obvious for the big day . . . contacts were not an option for me.

Keep in mind contacts might not work. I will wear my glasses because even with contacts things are still blurry for me and I can't see very well.

I wear my glasses everyday, and while my fiancee says he likes both, I prefer the way I look with them on.

I'm planning on buying a new pair to complement my wedding colors from zennioptical.com. They take a couple weeks, but I buy all of my glasses from there now, since I don't have optical insurance and they range from $10-$47 for frames and lens.

@MrsB Awesome! I bought my current glasses on Zennioptical.com as well and that is exactly what I plan on doing again... If I don't get the chance to see an Optometrist before the wedding I have the prescription for my current glasses and can order some frames that would suit the wedding.
