Wearing high heels

Kelly814, on June 13, 2016 at 8:51 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Hey! First time starting a discussion here Smiley smile My fiancé is a solid foot taller than me, and I'd really love to wear some very high heels to get some height. (And make us look less awkward at the alter haha)! I've had several people express concern about being comfortable, not being able to see the shoes anyway under the dress, how they just wore flats and loved it, etc. Are there any brides out there that wore high heels (I'm thinking at least 4 inches) on their big day? Did you regret it at all? Any tips?? I wear 3-4 inches heels to work regularly and never have any problems. I am slightly concerned though with how it'll work with a long dress with several layers. Also, if you have a specific high heel shoe or brand that you love, let me know!!!

Also for the record, these are the shoes I'm thinking of wearing right now. Their Badgley Mischka's Capella. Anyone have experience with this shoe or brand? Smiley smile

I think if you regularly wear heels that high, you'll be fine. Just make sure the break them in.

I will be wearing 3.5 inch heels from Nina and will be getting gel inserts to make them more comfortable. I literally tried six or seven different heels before I found ones I could work with.

My gut reaction was to tell you to go with something you will find comfortable. If your feet are used to wearing 3-4" heels for hours every day, I would recommend sticking with that. 4" heels are already pretty high, and I really don't think it's worth it to kill your feet to make yourself just an inch or more taller. I say that as someone who is 5'0".

Nordstrom's had a good selection of heels online. That's where I found mine. Mine are 3", and I picked them because the shoe fit well, was comfortable, and that heel height felt natural to me. Also, they were pretty, but I wouldn't have kept them if they didn't feel comfortable.

Thanks guys!! While I wear heels to work often, I don't do a while lot of walking - I spend most the day sitting in my cube. So while the shoes I found online are cute, they may not be the best idea as much as I'd love to be taller...

I really like the idea of inserts though!! I've never tried them but always wondered if they worked. I might try some out!

I have never wanted shoes off my feet so badly as my wedding night. And because my dress was hemmed to the height of my wedges. I couldn't take them off easily and be able to walk without tripping. Trust me, I tried. At the end of the night my BM's were unhooking me out of my dress, romantic I know but this is the reality, and before they even started unhooking the dress I was like, " shoes! Shoes! Get my shoes off!" My feet were throbbing. After being on my feet all day, dancing and walking all over creation for photos and such my dogs were seriously barking. I would reconsider sky high heels unless you wear them on the regular.

I wore Guess heels, probably should've broken them in more at home. I ditched them for sandals after our first dance and the parent dances.

@Possum That is my biggest fear of going with super high heels!!!! Wearing heels around the office is definitely a lot different than wearing them all night dancing. Thanks for your comment, definitely makes me reconsider my first thought of going crazy high and instead try to embrace my shortness. Smiley smile
