Wearing Ring While Working Out

ARudell, on February 24, 2017 at 9:32 AM

I find myself constantly removing my engagement ring for gym classes and going on runs... What do you ladies do? Do you have a different ring that you wear when working out? Or do you just go without?

Has anyone gotten calluses from take off and putting on their rings? I have! I didn't have this problem when I only had an engagement ring. My wedding band is a thicker and it happened within a month of getting married. I used to take them on and off every day but now with the calluses I can't really get them over my knuckle. My knuckle is a bit larger than my finger over all and the rings spin.

EarlieCat- I dunno- I have callouses from lifting- so I can't say that they are really from the rings.

I only take mine off to shower and when I'm cooking something greasy/dealing with raw meat. It doesn't bother me when I do hot yoga or run, and when I lift I wear these awesome weightlifting gloves that I got at TJ Maxx. They're really flexible and the ring fits in them perfectly.

I take it off whenever I workout. I just leave it at home usually.

Lol I basically just wear my ring on my days off or if we're going out after work.

I have a pretty dirty job so I don't wear it then and if I'm working it also not wearing it

As soon as I go home I take all jewelry off. When I go to the gym I leave it at home. I find no reason to wear my engagement ring to the gym. Nor do I find a reason to why anyone would wear their engagement ring to the gym.

I leave my ring on for my workouts and put these gloves on when I'm using weights. I usually exercise right before work and don't want to have to go the entire day without my ring! These are fantastic.

I have a Qalo ring I wear for lifting weights and for for my job (I work in a hospital)! I absolutely love it and I don't have to worry about damaging my beautiful ring!

FH bought us both Qalo rings for Christmas and I love it. I wear mine to work out in and when we go mudding so that mine would get nasty. Currently FH hasn't taken his off since he got them in. I guess he's just trying to get used to wearing a ring.

I'm a runner (as my name suggests, haha). If I have somewhere safe that I can leave my ring before I start a run, I leave it there and wear my QALO instead, or nothing.

"Somewhere safe" usually means home. I'm not comfortable locking it in my gym locker or my car. So, if I'm running with friends right after work or something, I just run with it on. I'd rather get it a little dirty than lose it forever. Right now, swelling fingers isn't an issue because it's cold. But in the summer, they swell like crazy. In the future, I'll try to plan better by wearing my QALO all day on the days that I plan to run with friends after work.

If I'm going on a weekend trip out of town to run a race, the ring stays home all weekend and I wear the QALO.

I wear my ring if I'm wearing it at the time. I take off my ring when I immediately get home, sleep, and shower. So if I just wake up and go to the gym I usually don't have it on but if I go after work I leave it on.

I take my ring off all the time - working out, showering, cleaning, sleeping. All of my jewelry is the last thing I put on when leaving home, and the first thing I take off when getting home. For me it's just a comfort issue! I've never been someone who can sleep with jewelry on!

I take my rings off for workout classes for comfort and just because I'm icky and sweaty Smiley smile I don't wear anything in replacement. Definitely don't wear your rings while lifting weights!!

I wear all my rings when I work out or run. I will say, I will never again hang from monkey bars with them on .... I thought I was going to lose my fingers after doing that. It didn't hurt at the time but within minutes of letting go, my ring fingers started itching and throbbing, red dots showed up and they started swelling to the point where those fingers did not look good and they hurt like hell.

I'm considering getting a silicon ring. I'm an athletic training student so I'm always getting it caught in tape. FH wants one as well since he is a cook.

Buying one of those Ring Bandits STAT! Thank you, @OliviaP

I take mine off for workouts, cleaning, dishes, sleep, showers, etc. But I have a thin pave band with a stone that goes way above (no idea what you call it) so it looks like it could break really easily. Definitely take it off for weight lifting/rowing no matter what.

I take mine off for working out, cooking, cleaning, showering, etc. H only puts his on if were going out or something (so, like, never). UO I don't see the point of getting a silicone ring, I just take mine off and I'm good. I don't need a placeholder to remind myself that I'm married.

I'm confused about the need for a second ring. I take mine off when I work out and leave it home. Do people just put on a second one to avoid being hit on or something? Taking off my ring doesn't make me feel any less [almost] married

I take mine off every time I go to the gym. My husband got a silicone/rubber one that he wears daily now. He ditched the original ring so he can wear the new one while at the gym and out fishing. I plan to get one for myself to wear to the gym.
