Wearing Rings

Now that you are married, are there times that you take off your ring(s)? If so, for what reason?

I don't wear my ring most of the time at home. It's too inconvenient to take it off to clean, do dishes, shower, sleep, etc. so it goes into my ring dish shortly after getting home and goes back on when I leave. If I'll be out somewhere where I don't feel comfortable wearing it (swimming, gym, fishing) I'll wear a silicone band. I actually tend to wear a silicone band a lot in the summer because my fingers swell so badly.

Not married yet, but I do take off my engagement ring quite a bit. Not symbolically or anything haha but I spend about 10 hours a week dancing (contemporary with lots of rolling around on the floor, falling, etc). My ring has a double halo with a lot of teeny tiny diamonds. My center stone also belonged to my late mother (still choke up every time I tell people that and how amazing my fiance is for doing that) so I'm really extra protective of the ring. I used to wear it all the time but took it to the jeweler to have it cleaned recently and they said a few of my halo diamonds were loose, so they recommended taking it off for dance, for doing dishes and for showering. I bought a cute little ring stand so I can display it nicely when I'm not wearing it. My fiance knows how much I love it (and him) so he's not bothered by it.

I'm not married yet, but I take my e ring off for things like gardening, cleaning, dishes, etc. My main stone is tanzanite, which isn't a very hard gemstone, so I need to be careful with it. My wedding band had a bunch of tiny diamonds, so I know I'll take it off a lot also. I told my FH that I want a plain metal band that I can wear daily and I'll wear my e ring and nice band for more special occasions.

Just while I’m coloring my hair or washing out the cat litter box. I keep playing with the idea of making my ring a 1/4 inch smaller because it’s loose during the day/cold but that means taking it off at night because my fingers swell... not sure I want to do that.

Relieving to us to read that we aren't the only ones that take them off sometimes. DH's parents always keeps theirs on according to DH but DH takes his off when doing dishes. I take mine off when I'm at the gym.. I lift and rings interfere with proper grip.

Is there a brand for silicone rings that you would recommend?

I used to get Enso or Qalo rings, but they're kind of expensive for what they are. Now we both get the generic ones from Amazon and they work just as well, plus the last pack I got was $13 for 8 of them instead of $20 for one like the name brand.

Well I'm not married yet but I take my engagement ring off often, especially at home. I don’t usually put it on unless I’m going to work during the week or going out on the weekend. It’s a hassle and nerve racking to take it off for all the tasks at home that could damage it (dishes, sticking your hand in & out of the washer/dryer, cleaning, showering, etc). But I know some
girls that never take theirs off!

I’m with you....I never take mine off. In fact other than to have it sized or cleaned I don’t think it’s been off. My hands swell when I’m at the gym but I don’t care. Mine is very high set and I should worry about hitting it and losing the stone, but I have insurance for that. I love it and always want to have it on.

This can apply to being engaged as well. I always take off my ring when I sleep, are going to get my hands wet and when I put products in my hair. I just won’t the buildup and it feels safer. I’ll do the same when we are married and I hope my fiancé does as well

Only engaged: My ring came from Brilliant Earth - an online store with only 4 or 5 showrooms in the US. He ordered it online, and it's beautiful and exactly the ring i would have picked out for myself if i was in charge (which is amazing because I never showed him this ring specifically, he found it on his own!), so I am in love with it. So despite that I would never pick a different ring, I am a touch wary that we never saw it in person before he bought it, so I take it off often. I am a summer camp counselor, so as to not draw attention to a conversation I don't need to have every week with a new group of middle schoolers, and to protect the ring from dirt/dust/rain/tree branches/canoe paddles, i wear an Amazon silicone ring during the week. During the year, I only take it off when I'm doing dishes/showering.

I do not take my rings off except to clean them or watersports (rafting, water skiing, etc). I work in hospitals and nursing homes. I really don’t see the need to take it off. I wear my engagement ring and two other diamond rings on my right hand. Maybe I’m just used to it ...
my FMIL used to take all her jewelry off to do dishes and had a ring dish by the sink, she left to go to the grocery store one day and someone broke in and took EVERYTHING. After hearing that I definitely won’t be leaving my rings around .... it’s my mothers original diamonds from her engagement ring and band, even though it’s insured I would NEVER want to have to replace them

Wow, I don't blame you. Having something so sentimental and precious is definitely something I wouldn't want to lose. Irreplaceable
