Is anyone not wearing shape wear under their dress? I'm a bigger girl and was planning on buying some and will need a particular kind to accommodate the back of my dress. I had cups sewn in the dress and I have a couple shape wear options coming in the mail. My family keeps insisting I don't wear anything and say I look fine, but I feel that even if it helps a little bit, it's better than nothing. I just don't trust my family who is telling me this because they also called me ugly at my dress fitting and said they hated the dress I chose. I guess in the back of my mind, I feel like they want me to look bad somehow now. What did you do and what do you think? If none of the shape wear works for my dress, does it look OK also? You look amazing in that dress! The only person you should worry about is you. If it will make you more comfortable then go for it! If it's not a big deal don't stress out over it. I'm sure he will look at you and be floored no matter your decision. Smiley smile

I don't think you need it. I will be wearing it though, I hate my body and even if I lose the weight I want to lose by April I don't think I'll be comfortable enough to not wear some sort of shape wear.

I wore jockey shorts under my dress - duel purpose - chub rub and tiny kids lifting my dress.

They aren't really shape wear but I dig them

I'm wearing some that cover my thighs to avoid chafing. I recommend checking out bare essentials. They carry lots of brands and it allows you to easily compare them. They were also cheaper than anywhere else. I just ordered two different kinds and love them both. I was planning on returning one if feel in love with the other but I'm keeping both.

I say you look gorgeous without it and not to worry about what they say. They are just being mean.

I'm wearing a very full A-line dress and I'm STILL wearing spanx that are like high waisted long shorts! If nothing else, to keep my legs from rubbing together all day because let's be real...it's hot under there lol

You look beautiful. Your family sounds like they are being mean. I'm getting shape wear sewn into the bottom of my dress but it also has three layers of crinoline to give my dress some shape at the bottom. I don't have pictures because I don't start alterations until Jan and havent put it together yet.

I think it looks great, but I'll admit I would probably wear spanx if it were me. I like to feel smoothed out.

First of all, you look beautiful and your family is a bunch of assholes for saying those things to you.

Secondly, I think you can totally get away without shape wear if you feel comfortable in the dress as is. It looks great.

You look great! I'm not wearing shapewear because I find it uncomfortable and I want to be able to eat and drink at my wedding! I'm just going to wear some pettipants because the middle region of my dress is too sheer to wear regular undies.

You look BEAUTIFUL and your dress is gorgeous, NEVER mind the haters, even if they're family......whenever someone says something nasty in an occasion like this it's typically something going on with them, not you (I'm dealing with similar nastiness in my own bridal party but to me it screams insecurity on them and thus trying to bring me down, too.) I'm wearing shapeware but only because I don't want underwear seams showing under my dress, otherwise I'd say eff it haha you're beautiful and your future spouse proposed to you because you're you, don't change anything for anyone other than yourself. Smiley smile

You don't really need it but I understand. I'm wearing a corset. I would recommend a Spanx for you. They are comfortable and will give you the smoothing.

You look great without it, but you should feel 100% comfortable or it will show in your pictures

I think you look amazing and I didn't wear shapewear - and I don't think you need it either! I wanted to be as comfortable as possible on my wedding day.

I'm wearing shape wear because I feel better about my belly doing that. I get it's not necessary but I feel more comfy.
