Weather Help

Dawnmarie, on July 10, 2021 at 11:22 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
So my wedding is next friday 7/16 so far it says 40 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms and partly cloudy then evening thunderstorm. The grounds at the venue are gorgeous. When should I start trusting this??

Have a contingency plan for bad weather. Talk to your venue about how they can accommodate this.

Our venue allowed us to make the decision the morning of our wedding so I’d ask your venue how far in advance you need to make that call.

It’s definitely still too early to call that a reliable forecast. Usually they say a 3 day is very accurate.

If you can, wait until the last minute to make any calls. My wedding was on a Saturday and starting on the Wednesday before we had a 70% chance of rain and storms, and on the wedding morning there was a 90% chance. My wedding was also outdoors. I basically had accepted it would be raining and we’d need to use the tent. But, when my photographer arrived and checked her forecast she said there was only a 10% chance. I was like huh? It didn’t end up raining at all. Not for any part of our event. Weather, especially storms, can change really really quickly. That’s why I recommend waiting until the last minute if you can!

My sister's wedding weekend the forecast was that it would rain all weekend, for the two weeks leading up to it and the day before. The rehearsal was cold, windy and storm clouds overhead. The day of the wedding ended up sunny and 75 out and beautiful, despite the forecast. It's definitely a last minute call.

This is probably somewhat regional, but weather predictions are hogwash. For both our Covid elopement and our wedding celebration the forecast was for rain earlier in the day and marginal improvement by afternoon/evening but we had absolutely gorgeous weather for both events. If I had relied on and stressed out about the forecast it would have been for nothing!

Definitely have a contingency plan in place but absolutely do not stress about things you have zero control over anyway. You have no power to change the weather, only to adapt to whatever comes. As long as you have the ability to adapt, you'll be fine!
