Weather woes!

Stephanie, on June 20, 2019 at 1:31 PM Posted in Florida Planning 0 12
If you live in Florida, you know how torrential it has been these last two weeks, especially yesterday with a tornado warning. I know it's hard to tell if the weather will get somewhat better by next Saturday, but for the next 4 days we have nothing but sunshine on the forecast. And towards mid to the end of next week nothing but thunder storms. 😓😫 I'm hoping and praying by a miracle it clears up next Friday and Saturday so we can rehearse comfortably and be able to leave the house dressed the day of. Unfortunately, the venue doesn't have a bridal suite so I'd have to get dressed on the first floor in the smaller venue room. The girls have light dresses and hair is a big part of us so it would suck to get rained on like that lol. Thankfully we have that as an option but no rain/storm is preferable.🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

But both ceremony and reception will be inside in the same room so that gives me so much more less to worry about. I'm going to track the weather in Gulfport like a hawk this week! 😂

Praying you have good weather. I got married in Florida about a month ago before the rain started and lucky for me I had a beautiful day. I hope the weather clears and you have gorgeous weather for your special day!

All week leading up to our wedding, the forecast said rain all day. Even the night before, it said rain all day. It didn't rain a DROP, all day, until the very last photo at the end of our reception. THEN I felt one drop of rain on my arm.

Also meteorologists have admitted they have no idea the daily forecast more than 3-4 days in advance, at the very most. Anything beyond 3-4 days is just a prediction of the general trend that they're expecting (and it's mostly based on historical data). One tiny change in the atmosphere and the entire forecasted "storm" could be pushed several days, or could just be blown in a different direction and not even reach you. Like I said, even the night before my wedding they were predicting rain from I think 11am through 4pm. It didn't even start raining until 4:30pm, and even then, it was barely drizzling.

Even if it does rain--rainy wedding photos are actually really artsy and unique! Your day will be special and beautiful no matter what, and there are so many controllable things to stress about, that you shouldn't waste a moment of time or an ounce of stress on something you have ZERO control over.

If it's going to rain, it's going to rain and you can't control that. But you CAN choose how you react. Stressing about it all week won't lower the chances of it raining! Choose to let it go, and if it rains, then at least your only issue was rain and not a week's worth of stress! Let yourself be at peace over the fact that it MIGHT rain... being stressed about it will only set you up for upset and disappointment on your special day!

I would say don't even check the forecast the week before your wedding. It will be what it will be... let yourself be at peace with that!

Yep I have heard of that which is why my hopes aren't entirely out the window because anything can happen. I'm definitely aware I can't change that haha and definitely not losing sleep over it or anything like that but it's just annoying that after two weeks of storming it's all sunshine until like Monday. This weather is just crazy. I'm just hoping for a sunny dry day but I agree it is what it is

I totally understand hahaha, hopefully it is comforting to know I had that exact same thought. It was actually raining most of May in New Jersey and the weekend before our wedding it was GORGEOUS (which I was so upset about hahaha) and then the whole week before it was raining, they predicted 2 days of sunshine on Friday and Saturday (wedding was Sunday) and then that the rain would start up again on Sunday and last all week. They were "right"... I guess? The rain did start Sunday, but Sunday evening, which didn't matter!

I hope it works out for you... there's a huge chance it will. The fact that they're predicting rain as of over a week in advance, I don't think even means you're more likely to have rain than if they were predicting a sunny day at this point hahaha.

Something that helped me feel better about the potential of rain, was looking at rainy wedding photos on Pinterest lol. That sounds silly but, seeing how beautiful some wedding photos in the rain turned out actually gave me a lot of peace of mind that my day would still be amazing.

What part of Florida are you getting married in? I totally understand your frustration. We vacation in Florida a lot. Sometimes even with a 90% chance of rain, you can still have a mostly dry day.

Thankfully the ceremony and reception are inside. That should relieve some of the stress.
