Website - which one and why

MoreMoore, on March 27, 2017 at 1:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 45

What host site did you use for your wedding website, and why did you choose them?

I wanted to use Joy at first, but after we started building it, I seem to always have tech issues getting back in, or accessing from the guest side.

Does yours have the ability to RSVP online (Must have!)

Can you build your seating chart based on your guest list and confirmed attending?

I would love to streamline everything into one website instead of piecing things together.

I am using Wix.com. It's not quite as easy as some of the dedicated wedding sites, but it offers a lot more options for customization and the sites are designed to work well on mobile browsers. It's free to set up a site, as long as you don't have a custom URL.

ETA: Wix doesn't have RSVP functionality built in, so we are using anrsvp.com for that

I think wedding websites are pretty 2007. We aren't doing one.

I'm using Wix too. @CaboBride, they have an events feature that I'm using as an RSVP function. Maybe you're looking for something different?

I'm using theknot.com. I liked their layouts the best. They also have rsvping available on theirs.

FH is a programmer so we used word press so he could customize and build it more from scratch- I'm incredibly happy with it but I'm sure the knot or WW would do similar things without the effort Smiley smile

@Lynnie or anyone who is using WW - is the mobile/app version of your site more user friendly than the forums on there? I guess I've hesitated to even get into the WW one because the app is just not too impressive to me.

FH is a computer programmer, so we used namecheap.com to get a domain name and he is building our site from scratch.

I chose Minted simply because the template matches my invites. We're not doing digital RSVPs so I just needed a place to list basic information.

I used the free one on minted. It has a very streamlined setup. Set up the free website before ordering your invitations because you get a $50 credit. Second pro for minted is that unlike the more popular wedding websites like the knot and WW, you cannot google the bride and groom and find the website. I was willing to pay for privacy, but it's unneeded on minted because the google results bury it where no one who doesn't get the url will see your information.

However, the deciding factor was that it automatically links the addresses from the invites I ordered. I justified paying more using minted because of the time savings. I entered names and addresses once and got them done for STDs, invites, online RSVPs, and thank you notes for every guest.

I've been using the website on Wedding Wire, and it's easy to customize, and the online RSVP page makes it really simple to track which guests can and can't make it.

The Knot.. I think I chose them because they had a better variety of templates
