Heyyyy ladies!

We are planning for our wedding for May 2022 so about 6-7 months from now. I know its late notice, fiance and I have had things to prioritize prior to picking a solid date. Anyone plan a wedding in 6-7 months? I think i can do it, but any tips to make things smoother and easier pleaseeee lmk!

Also, this will be a wedding where we live in Texas, however our families live in Wisconsin. So they would be traveling. Any tips on how far of a notice we should give them would be greatly appreciated as well. xo

ps. we have not found a venue yet, we will be spending the next couple weeks looking at venues.

Thanks Ladies! Smiley heart

I think you can definitely have a wonderful wedding it in that timeline. But, yes after securing a venue, you'll have a date, mood, formality, and vision ideas. This will also help you decide on your attire which I also second others and start shopping asap. Next, priority would be photography. But all others can come with more time. But, just because you have a shorter timeline, doesn't mean you have to change your vision. For example, if you want a more formal wedding versus more casual, I would suggest putting your budget into larger items that have more wow factor and set up by professionals (not you!) like draping, flowers, and uplighting. Or you can go candles over flowers. But, overall, I say choose the path of least drama. So that may mean fewer attendants, fewer pre-wedding parties, fewer decision makers, and less DIY. I'd skip bach or bridal showers, because really everyone will still want to take you out as the newleyweds. It doesn't stop. I planned a formal wedding in 5 months due to health issues, and I def would not have extended planning time. A wedding planner even for a couple months can also help details, contracts, and day-of coordination-- again reducing stress. Others say being engaged is wonderful, but I just really wanted to be married already. You can do it, and even vent your frustration here on WW with other brides. Ps. WW checklist and budget tools are great. Best wishes, Bride!

My sister planned her wedding in May, starting in November when he dropped the ring on her. I’m planning mine for May (same day as hers actually aaaah! But she doesn’t mind) and some things she wishes she knew:
    - do your best to pick your venue (and church/synagogue as applicable) as soon as possible— then you can send invites as soon as possible (early January). She sent hers into February and had to contact people for last minute details, which was only annoying, but if aggravation is your enemy try to avoid sending them late
    - pick your dress early. Before December. Hopefully you can get it off the rack, and get it altered to you as early as you can. I’m going dress shopping tonight, wish me luck, I’ve grown to have to learn to love my body so really, I need luck to slip into the right dress. Some dresses take 5-6 months to ship and you still need alterations so, take that into account.
That’s all I have, but I wish you happy plannning. Nothing is perfect. Even our perfect day. Have fun with it. It’s a party you’re throwing, for yourself and for your loved ones. MY ADVICE is to HAVE FUN WITH IT. keep yourself sane. Draw boundaries. Smiley smile
