Wedding Activities/entertainment that isn't a Photobooth

Michelle, on January 2, 2021 at 9:26 AM Posted in Planning 1 14

Hey Ladies! Question - what wedding activities are you doing that isn't a photobooth? Some people have told me a caricature artist would be fun.. any other ideas? Thank you in advance!

I've seen others do gamed such as the shoe game. I've been to one wedding at a zoo, where guests could pet animals such as a penguin and a joey.

You could do a wedding trivia game, where you have a bunch of different questions, either about you and your fiance, wedding traditions/history, wedding movies, etc. If there's an outdoor space at your reception venue, you could also setup lawn games.

I designed an I Spy game to put at all the seats so people can take pictures and share them with us. Easy and fun thing people can do, and we get photos!

I love this idea!! How did you ask your guests to share the photos with you?

We had dancing and nothing extra. Our guests were perfectly happy 😊
But I also put a little eye spy thing on the tables. No one did it. But, I used the guest app for my guests to share their pictures. Out of 60 guests I think 10 used it. We got around 500 pictures, but some were duplicates due to people sharing pictures. The app was easy to use and you can print cards straight from the app/website that have your event code on it. I printed one for each table to encourage people to participate. When I signed up it cost money (to set up an event, guests didn’t have to pay), but I believe it’s free now.

We are having people hashtag us on Instagram or Facebook, so we can track them. The other options we considered are here: https://www.brides.com/story/apps-to-help-wrangle-wedding-photos

The other option could be to tell people to email you to your wedding email to be entered for a prize.

If there is no dancing, guests chat and catch up with each other.

As a guest, the only entertainment I want is dancing.

Some "outdoor" games can be really fun! (e.g. corn hole, jumbo Jenga, jumbo Connect 4, etc...) This is great especially for guests who are just standing around/sitting the entire time or for guests who don't really know anyone else at the wedding. If games are your thing, totally go for it. All the best!

With Covid going on dancing isn’t allowed here still (it’s like Footloose!) some activities I have seen have been caricature artist and games as mentioned above, wine/beer tastings, karaoke, poker tables, tarot card reader, and trivia competition (tables play together). Good luck! I’m sure you will find something great

My fiancé and I are planning to have a watercolor artist paint portraits of the guests. We also are going to have a cigar area, hopefully with some billiards tables.

Or interactive food/dessert stations: pasta station, crepe station, fancy coffee bar, s’mores bar, etc.

We had caricatures and a strolling magician. He was a good conversation starter.
