wedding arches...need inspiration!!

Crystal L., on April 15, 2015 at 12:59 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 26

A friend of mine is going to let me use her wedding arch after she gets married, but it's just going to be a plain, metal arch with nothing on it. If you'll be using one, how do you plan on decorating it? Or how did anyone that used one decorate theirs? I'm totally drawing a blank, and would love some inspiration. I'd love to see some pictures if you all have them.

I used white tulle and white silk flower garlands (tied on with white zip ties) on a white metal arch. All from Michael's and on sale.

Some of the metal arches come with lights.

We're doing something like this. The arch is made of PVC pipe. It cost us under $20!

Here was ours - nothing too fancy. Had the florist put flowers at the top and crystal beads hanging from each side so that the sun would hit it just right.

This is the inspiration we are going off of. FFIL is in the process of making it !! I cant wait!! We were at the cabin last weekend, and hes like ' Look we fond the piece of wood we are using for your arch!!' I am pumped!! Its a 40ft piece of wood FFIL found on the beach, dragged it up and has been drying it out. He is going to put it in the ground so its there forever. I cannot wait!!! Its so nice having someone so special make it for us!

-Sorry just excited for mine hehe!

Edit ; we will be using pretty much the same flowers on ours as well Smiley smile

Ohhh I just started making mine and haven't taken a good photo of it yet, plus its not done.

I purchased our arch (picture 1) from amazon.com for about $45.00; the next two photos are our inspiration photos.

I bought a crinkle. silk chiffon and chiffon from Joann's Fabrics for $50.00 in a burnt orange and a brown color, two large leave gardlands from Michael's at 60% off after fall, another large garland with twigs and a couple of gourds for about $50.00 from Hobby Lobby and a TON of silk flowers from Hobby Lobby when they were having their 50% off sale. Overall I think our total came to $225.00. We were quoted at a much higher cost from our florist.

Should I use zip ties to attach everything? How would I attach tulle?

Our arch looks similar to this. Not sure how we will decorate it yet. Probably just have the florist put some flowers on it.

This is what I'm doing - simple metal arch (in white), with the flowers hanging down. I am using silk flowers for this because I want it done ahead of time.
