Wedding Attire Help

Kaitlyn, on November 10, 2021 at 6:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 7

I am looking for artists who dye wedding dresses. I follow one artist who upcycles old dresses but her products can be expensive. I would rather find the dress of my dreams (budget 2k) and then have it dyed professionally. Any recommendations? My fiancé also does not want a traditional tux and is looking for tuxedos that are more floral and debonair (budget 1k). Where is a good place to start looking for the tux of his dreams? I put some pictures in for a better idea of what he is talking about. We are in the PNW area but I would be willing to travel to nearby states.

ASOS (which is actually mentioned in the above pictures) actually would be great for this.

Here are a bunch of floral and metallic suits on their website.

Twisted Tailor and William David also seems to have some options. You could also search for terms like brocade or jacquard, if you particularly like that metallic, contrasting design look.

Do you already have a dress you want to dye, or are you looking to purchase a dress with the intent on dying it?

I only ask because some materials (including a number of synthetics) do not absorb dye well and can be VERY difficult to dye. So if you already have a dress, depending on the material dying it may not be possible or not be easy. If you don't yet have a dress, I would try to find a fabric dying specialist first or at the very least do some of your own research about materials and fabrics before purchasing. Materials like cotton and silk dye well for example, but polyester does not, from what I understand. But you should do your own research or talk with an expert.

Did you want to dye your dress a particular colour or just a tie dye pattern on it? If a colour then maybe it would be better to buy a dress in that colour already so you don't wreck your fabric when it is dyed? Just a thought anyway Smiley smile

My idea was Autumn colors, since we are getting married in October. I'm flexible with the color as I know certain colors may not go well on a white dress
