Wedding band that goes with my solitaire e-ring?

Danielle, on March 15, 2016 at 11:57 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 33

I'm lost on what wedding band will look best with my engagement ring. I keep looking at the one that is supposed to match but just not sure. Anyone have a ring similar to mine who can show me what you chose? It's a petite solitaire with a white gold band. It's so simple and I love that about it, but it's been tough to find a band that doesn't compete with it.

And this is what they recommend as a match:

I have the same ring although I think my diamond is smaller.

I'm in love with the scalloped bands and plan on doing that..

Eta that is not my hand btw

Following! Your ring looks almost identical to mine! I love it!

A friend of mine got a very simple band with a row of small diamonds on top and I tried hers on with my ring. It didn't compete at all and looked beautiful.

ETA: pic with the band didn't load until after I posted. The recommended one is basically what I was talking about. I don't think it competes, I think they complement each other very well!

    Thanks Jen!

Mandy I have looked at the scalloped ones too and they're so pretty! I keep wondering though if I want them to really stack together or to look like two separate rings. I was not expecting this to be such a big thought process, lol

I've also seen that solitaire e-rings are well complemented by bands with diamonds.

I have a similar e ring and just decided on my band style. I was going to do plain platinum, but once I tried on a diamond band I was sold. It's similar to your set up and I don't think it takes away at all. This pic isn't the exact one I'm getting, but it's the one that sold me on the look. I think the small band of diamonds make the solitaire sparkle more!

Thanks guys! I think the recommended one is what im leaning toward.

Follow up question - do you get the two rings attached together (can't think of the word for this) - or leave them separate? I wonder if the little diamonds only go halfway around, if they're going to constantly be lined up wrong and drive me nuts lol. My fingers tend to change size pretty often. When my ring is on the looser side, it moves around a lot. But when it fits like it should, it doesn't move much at all. I'm trying to think ahead for that in case it moves around on my hand. Wondering if getting them attached together would be smart or if that's a no-no?

This is pretty much exactly the look I want except my diamond is definitely not that ginormous

If you're looking for a ring that doesn't complete I would go with the one you have pictured. Look at diamonds that are on the smaller size like 3/8 ct or 1/4 ct. Just enough to compliment the big diamond.

Thanks!!! Glad to see the sparkly band is kind of a common choice with the solitaire ring. Smiley smile I haven't seen it on anyone I know and was having trouble picturing it outside of that stock image I posted, haha

Attaching them is called soldering. You can definitely find pave/channel set/milgrain diamond bands that do not go all the way around. My e-ring is made this way. One of the requests I made to my fiance a long time before he proposed was that if he got small diamonds around the band that they did not go all the way around. Just like you, I was nervous about the diamonds on the bottom getting damaged and diamonds that went too far down the side being uncomfortable against the fingers next door.

Samantha - yes soldering! I could not think of the word for the life of me. I didn't even think about the bottom diamonds getting damaged but that is an excellent point. I like when they only go halfway around, I am just concerned if the ring spins around and the side with the diamonds is all lopsided and stuff, haha. Is there any reason not to solder them together?

My sister has a princess cut just like yours and chose a plain white gold band the same thickness as her e-ring. She loves how plain it is and chose not to solder them

Unless you choose a band that has some twists in it, I don't think you'll need to worry about how any gaps would look with the soldering. Soldering is good if you intend to wear both rings every single day. If you think there's a chance you'll want to wear only one of your rings some days for whatever reason, then soldering would eliminate that option. You could always solder them later on if you have any doubts. I go back and forth on whether in want to solder them or not, but it largely depends on whether I will choose to have a shadow band made or pick a different band off the shelf that has curves that fit into my e-ring's curves.

Here's mine! The jewelry store recommend getting a ring that sits low so it will fit well with e-ring

I had a similar issue with my rings. My ering is a ruby and the band it is on has a Trinity Knot on both sides. FH wanted me to have a band with diamonds, but I felt that most I tried in competed with the ruby. I wanted something to enhance it, not take away from it. As ridiculous as it sounds, most that I tried on were just too sparkly. After I decided on a plain band, we actually found one that I felt looked good with my ering. I'm in my phone (at work), so I can only do one picture at a time. (This is from yesterday's Time Hop.)
