Wedding band with marquise solitaire

Kelly, on June 4, 2015 at 11:36 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

Hi! This is post #1 of many for me Smiley smile

My fiance was gifted his grandmother's beautiful wedding set. The engagement ring is a solitaire marquise in a yellow gold setting and it's absolutely stunning. The band has 12 more diamonds on it and sort of hugs the engagement ring. Together it's a LOT of bling and I'm not sure if we should stick with this set or have the band turned into something else that I can also wear on it's own. I've already fallen so in love with the solitaire engagement ring that I'm nervous about putting something else with it. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

Believe me when I tell you it is unbelievably hard to get anything to match with a marquis diamond. I tell most of my customers to just wear a band on their other hand or they have to have something else custom done. Honestly, I would keep what you have.

Thank you Heather. We don't mind going the custom route...I'm just not used to wearing such a big ring. It's such a silly and weird problem to have...and I must sounds like a complete idiot haha. I wonder if we could use the diamonds from the existing band and create a more subtle one? I have been realizing that it's tough to match with a marquise..that's definitely correct!

The only thing with going custom (though it's a great option) is typically something that fits with a marquis looks odd by itself. You could always try having a plain solid band done with just an opening in the center. That might be pretty.

I say keep what you have- it's gorgeous! And in no way too sparkly!

I'm having a tough time finding a band to go with my pearl ring- having a set already matching would be my ideal ring set haha

It is beautiful as is and with the band it becomes complete. I think there is nothing more beautiful then something that has been passed down. I say keep it the way it is Smiley smile

I think you should get a 2nd band without any diamonds, just to wear on the days that you don't want to wear a lot of bling. Your e-ring is stunning and a 2 or 3mm band will really compliment it.

Your set is stunning as is, and I'd leave it alone. I don't think there is such a thing as too much bling though.

If you are worried about wearing it all the time, it would be fairly inexpensive to get a plain band to wear by itself.

I think your set is beautiful. My ring has a lot of diamonds between all three bands and I wear it everyday and haven't had a problem yet. That being said I don't know what you do and some people need a more plain band for certain occasions. I would keep your current ring and on occasion that you need something plain get a second ring that is just plain. Like this link im going to post for example.

I think that set is absolutely stunning. You can always get a plain band to wear on days when you don't want to be super blingy. I want to get a 3mm plain rose gold band (under $100) for days I don't want to wear all my diamonds or for things like going on vacation because I'd be terrified to take my set with me.

I should note I am a nurse and so far I haven't had any issues with wearing my e-ring at work...but more would be pushing the limit. Getting a simple band is a good idea for days when I can't have as much going on. Good call!

I bought two bands. One that curve around the marquise and one I wear when I don't want to wear the set.

I think that's really pretty! You'll get used to the e-ring and then the band probably won't seem SO overwhelming? But a plain band would be nice too =)
