Wedding Binder

Emily, on October 16, 2023 at 11:18 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

Do I really need a wedding binder? I am having a 90 person wedding and feel like I have a fine grasp on stuff, as does the day-of coordinator at the venue. I see all these social media posts about these binders brides are creating but wanted to know.. is this really needed?

It's not necessary. Many people find binders helpful because it keeps everything in one place, but if you have a different system for staying organized, skip the binder and do what works best for you!

My mom bought me The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner & Organizer. I used it a lot in the beginning to get ideas and look at the timeline of things, but full disclosure I didn't really use it much after the first month or two of planning. I used Pinterest more to save ideas I had for like cakes, decor, flowers, etc. I also made a separate folder in my email to put all wedding related emails. I think it's good for inital planning, but beyond that I didn't find it necessary.

Not necessary. This is more of a personal preference thing, if you feel organized and have a record of things (likely electronic) there's no need.

To clairfy, I mean a day of binder that coordinates everything. Not a planning binder!

A Day-Of binder? NOPE, especially since you have a DOC! I am a type A personality, so I did have a nice folder and a spreadsheet for everything (*mostly for when payments were due) I had a timeline for the "when do I get ready and when do people need to be here" type of planner, but once my feet hit the wedding venue I was THE BRIDE - all the planning was whisked away.

I put all the info in a PowerPoint deck and shared with all my vendors so everyone understood and had all the details. My wedding planner printed it for herself which she used the day

It's not necessary but as a suoer type A person I have one. I think it will be helpful to keep everyone on the same page.

We had one for each of our vendors and day of coordinator (not employed by the venue so they worked in our interest, not the venue’s) and everyone said they worked like a charm. It’s not required but it was definitely helpful for keeping everyone on track, where to set things up and who to contact if anything does go wrong that the day of coordinator needs extra intervention for.

I don't think you need a wedding binder! Make sure to give your day of coordinator the numbers of the vendors and then any last minute details you're waiting for and that should be good!
