It kinda does but you can hang it after the wedding by the door or in the family room.

What's the tradition for wedding brooms? Just curious since I've never heard of it before...

I'm with @alice ^ I've never heard of a wedding broom, although I have seen door decorations that look similar.

African American tradition dates back to slavery. Slaves weren't allowed to marry so they jumped the broom to show their union.

@Soon2BSmith...A Touch of Country Magic has cinnamon brooms. They come in different scents and can be decorated. Here is mine...

@Soon2BSmith love that you're incorporating the "jumping the broom" into your wedding. I absolutely love it! You can go to any craft shop & buy a plain broom & add very little to accent it. I would use your wedding colors & maybe add something significant of your & your FH.

We are doing the jumping broom as well. Etsy has some pretty ones that you can use for inspiration or purchase. They run about $35-40. My mom will make ours with some flowers and ribbon wrap from Hobby Lobby/Michael's.

I think if the handle was longer and "straw" part of it was more even and splayed out it would look more like a broom. I do really like the styling of it though, nice job on that.

I think it looks fine. Jumping brooms aren't supposed to look like an actual household broom. The only thing I'd say is to maybe cut the straw so it's even in length all the way across.

Publix Supermarkets and Cracker Barrel Restaurants sell cinnamon brooms for about $5. Just add ribbons in your colors.

I actually like the broom you made, if you could somehow add a longer handle onto it.
