Wedding Cake at a Brunch Reception?

A&W, on April 8, 2016 at 10:08 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 28

I've never been completely tied to the idea of having a traditional wedding cake. I was already considering other options, and now that I'm having a brunch reception, I'm not sure that a wedding cake even fits. What dessert would you serve at a brunch reception?

I would love cake for breakfast! I think you could do something else though if you prefer. Donuts would be good.

How about cupcakes, macarons, cake pops, donuts, or profiteroles.

I love cake for breakfast/brunch. I vote yes please. You could always do a cake with berries or something (I know sometimes a traditional strawberry shortcake or something is hard to do in tiers, but something to that effect). Who doesn't love cake with berries and a light frosting? I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!

Definitely cake, but this seems like the ideal time for a crepe cake.

We are having a day wedding and serving gelato. Now this is because the FW hates cake. I do whatever she tells me. I wanted cake and gelato. #fatgirlissues

I'm also not a fan of wedding cake, but cake will always be appropriate for a wedding, regardless of when/where. If you really don't want it, then choose something else; maybe coffee cake, cinnamon rolls, anything with fruit/granola are "brunch friendly" desserts. You can do a sweet table with all sorts of things, like mini pies (?)

CAKE! Honestly, cake is so traditional at weddings that people sort of come expecting it and once you are craving something it's hard for something else to do the trick. I know I'm always disappointed when their isn't cake. I'm a huge cake fan so I'm a little biased but the one wedding I went to without cake I did hear several grumbles about it and I made DH stop on the way to get me a cupcake!

If its ending early and you are not sure about serving it, you could do cute cupcakes to go as little favours. People could eat it there or take it with them. Or just provide the boxes if people want to take one.
