Does anyone know who typically delivers a wedding cake? We’re planning to get a small decorative cake and then likely Costco sheet cakes to have enough for everyone. Our venue won’t be responsible for storing cakes and our coordinator said that they usually don’t. If you’ve planned a wedding before, how did you get the cake(s) to the venue? Does the bakery usually deliver?

Our bakery is delivering, for an additional fee (which to us was well worth the piece of mind!).

Our bakery delivered it and the venue handled setting it up. We had it very easy because our venue had an exclusive contract with a local bakery which meant that was the bakery we had to use. It made it easy because we didn't have to worry about finding a bakery on our own and the charge for the cake was included in the cost our venue charged us for food. The only thing we had to do was schedule a tasting.

Our bakery delivered and set up our cake. We did pay a fee for that but I can’t remember how much it was.

Independent bakeries deliver and set up. With Costco or a grocery store you are responsible for your own pickup and set up.

I used to work for a bakery that did high end wedding cakes and, for an extra fee, you could get the cake delivered. Either the head pastry chef or the owner did the delivery.
