    Um. Cake is always necessary.

    Without cake, why is dinner???

Our venue also provided a dessert spread, but cake is ... yes. Cake.

I wouldn't have said necessary prior to the last wedding we went to but...the couple skipped the cake and offered no other dessert option, so that was a bummer. If no cake there for sure needs to be a dessert option and late night snacks at open bar as we were all dying for food at the end of the night.

I don’t think it’s necessary. But it’s probably better to have than not. My suggestion, spend the good money on a small cake then order sheet cakes from Costco for the guests in the same flavor. Much more budget friendly and this way you still get the pretty cake you want and the cake cutting pictures without a giant cake in your face.

I never thought about not having a wedding cake. My first wedding I was really broke all we had was the ceremony, champagne toast and the wedding cake. Wedding cake is a must for me. Even if it was a sheet cake! Plus its nice to save the top tier for your first anniversary Smiley smile it makes for nice memories.

I definitely think dessert is necessary, but cake is not. FH & I are doing mini pies. Neither of us really care for cake, but love pie! I always feel bad when they serve everyone cake at weddings, because I usually end up not eating mine or just picking at it. Another reason we opted for mini pies. If people don't like them, they don't have to take one & the extras will definitely get eaten! Lol

Some kind of sweet treat is super recommended! Whether it's cake. Pie, candy, ice cream, whatever

Yes! But a 5 tier cake to serve everyone? No. Our venue/caterer offered a dessert bar option, so we'll probably have a single tier cake for cutting, cupcakes in our cake flavor, and assorted other desserts.

Nope not at all. we are not big cake eaters anyway. We plan to have a small cake on top to cut and for the photographer to capture. But we will have cupcakes for our guest to indulge.

A cake is definitely not necessary, but I think some sort of dessert is expected. We decided to offer 4 different flavors of donuts. Everyone loved them!

Not necessary. I personally am not a huge fan of cake in general... and I think it often goes uneaten or gets wasted. When I'm drinking and dancing, the last think I want is cake. We are doing a dessert table, and will have a small couple's cake to cut for tradition's sake... but nothing big.

Not really necessary but I think it just fits the party who doesn’t want dessert?

Cake is not needed, but dessert is necessary! We will be doing a small cake for us to cut and then cupcakes for all of the guests to eat.

I want cake. I'm good with sheet cake, cupcakes. Whatever. But a marriage is not valid if there is no cake.

With so many dessert options, cakes are not as necessary as they used to be. Years ago the cake was almost like the centerpiece of the reception.

Necessary for us. Cutting the cake is such a classic tradition and I wanted it to be included. We are just having a small cake to cut and larger sheet cakes for everyone else.
