Hey Ladies!

Happy Friday!

My FH and I are going back and forth because we aren't sure whether we want a wedding Cake or just desserts. I want a cake simply to use the top tier, freeze and do the anniversary thing. However, my FH doesn't really eat cake like that. And I don't want to spend money on something that may possibly be wasted by guests. We were also thinking about cupcakes.

Will you be having a cake? What are your thoughts?

We're doing both. A big dessert table with a small cake in the center, just for photos and the tradition of cutting.

We went with both. The cake isn't a super large cake, but it will do.

Desert table. I like variety and may not like cake that day

We are doing both. Cake with a dessert bad. I don't like cake either that much and so we found a bakery who can do it for a good price.

We will be doing a two tier cake(one tier for cutting other for anniversary) and doing a dessert table with donuts, cookies and a couple other desserts that way our guests can choose what they want. Eta spelling

We couldn't decide so we did both! We did a smaller cake with macaron cookies and mini cupcakes. It was the perfect amount. The cookies were eaten up so fast I didn't even get one! And we didn't have too much cake leftover, we ate it after the reception when we had our BP and parents come to hang out in our hotel room. We saved the top tier but not to freeze--we ate it the following week after the wedding lol leftover wedding cake is the bee's knees, let me tell you! It's like a tiny little extra celebration.

The reason we didn't freeze ours is because my parents said they did that and strongly advised against it! They said the top tier, even when stored properly, does NOT taste good after a year. They said on their first anniversary, they took one bite and spit it into the garbage along with the rest of it. They said it was a waste of money and wished they hadn't done it. Most food is not good after being frozen for a year (unless it is flash frozen, but that won't likely be the case with your cake) so if you want to save it, I would suggest you skip the freezing and instead "extend" your celebration by eating a piece of cake together each day for the first week of marriage Smiley smile

We are having a small cake to cut and the remaining will be served along with cupcakes and cookie table. Also, when my sister got married, my mom froze her top layer and it was still good when we tasted it a year later--it wasn't as good as fresh but it was still good.

Hi there! I’m actually currently in the same position as you were in! Only 50 people, want to do the year anniversary thing, FH not a big fan of cake, was suggested to do a small cake and cupcakes/donuts

    How’d you go about things?
    Thanks Smiley smile
