Wedding Cake Stand

Jennifer, on June 9, 2021 at 8:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
Hello All!! I found the bakery that will be doing our wedding cake. They unfortunately don't provide the cake stand. Where should I look for an inexpensive stand or even a rental?? Any advice would be amazing! Thank you!!

Is there a party rental business in your area?

Honestly, you don't need a cake stand. They usually have a board or something under the cake, so you can just place it directly on the table. That's what we did and it worked out perfectly.

Goodwill or Facebook marketplace? Make your own?
Or none, which is what I did. I decorated the table. Made serving less scary lol

Try asking your venue to see if they have one you can use! Otherwise Amazon or Michael's is a good place or like some have said, you may not even need one. The cake will be on a cake board. A cake stand is really not necessary.

Just be careful that it will hold the weight of your cake. And the size. Some are really pretty, but not sturdy. I managed a bakery that made wedding cakes for four years. Wedding cakes are HEAVY. And not all cake stands are created equal. Make sure to know the size of the bottom tier, and probably the board size (usually at least an inch or two bigger than the bottom tier size).

I'm just having my cake on the table. I truly don't trust stands I haven't tested.

Another suggestion is to think "outside the box" (other than what the other posters have mentioned that the cake WILL be on some sort of board & could easily just be put on the table). FH is a self-employed Marine Mechanic & we are using a "polished" propeller which is heavy AND very sturdy. It also fits with our lives as a couple, theme & venue (beach front). Our baker asked about a cake stand at our tasting (ironically her husband is a marine mechanic too!) and between the two of them this "idea" was born ~ we all LOVED it and it's soo fitting for "us".
