Wedding Cakes from HEB

amandal0514, on February 6, 2016 at 9:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

Has anyone ever gotten their wedding cake from HEB? They're just so expensive at the regular places!

I went to our new HEB in town but was told they didn't do them there but to try another specific location because they were "certified" to do them. Umm ok.

Worried tho about having to transport it ourselves. May have to splurge and get one from a regular vendor.

We are getting ours from a chain grocery store called hyvee. Great prices and taste amazing plus they deliver. Other option was going to be sams club. No delivery but even better prices and still taste good. For us the delivery and taste far outweighed the maybe 100 savings.

Have you tried looking around more,

I found a bakery that operates out of a commissary kitchen (you rent commercial kitchens by the hour or day) that way it's health code rated and professional.

I'm paying $192 for a wonderful 100 person cake, 2 tiered with real buttercreme frosting.

If you shop around you can find something perfect for you!

I was looking at grocery store cakes, but I went with a private bakery instead. They don't do "real" wedding cakes, but they do offer plainly iced tiered cakes, and will happily prep their normal cakes for stacking as well. Their prices were a little higher than grocery store bakeries but lower than "real" wedding cake vendors in my area. If you're not sure about using a grocery store cake, I would hunt around for something like that. If you've tasted the grocery store's cake and like it, I say go for it.

So I'm actually getting my cake and French macaroons at my local HEB. They have been extremely accommodating and they even sent me me home with a 6 pack of cupcakes with some flavor options. My friends and I devoured them and everyone gave me a thumbs up of approval. I'm also saving about $300 compared to another bakery I was considering. So far so good but I don't get married till April.

We're considering HEB for our cake! They have such great service and we've always had good results with things we've gotten from their bakery.

Haha yeah HEB is another one of those Texas things!

Kristina - that's cool! Have you decided who gets to pick up the cake and deliver it?

Amanda - I am from Texas as well and was married in San Antonio. I have the name of a lady who bakes the most amazing cakes. Feel free to email WWKatie to ask for my email and i'll pass along the information if you are in the area.

@amanda, we are actually getting our flowers from HEB Blooms and they are picking up the cake for us since everything is going to be at the same store. I can't believe how much money I'm saving and the amount of personal attention for better quality has been incredible. Are you having a coordinator? Or is your caterer able to pick up the cake for an extra fee?

Hi! I know this is an old post, but would you mind telling me how much you spent on your wedding cake from HEB?

Hi, I know this is an older post, but I’m planning a wedding in San Antonio and looking for someone to make my wedding cake and not go over budget. Do you still have the contact info? Thanks!

You can google heb wedding cakes and it'll show locations that can make them! I'm from Houston so I used the HEB in the woodlands and they were great! I bought fake flowers/cake topper on etsy and decorated it myself, but for $300 I got a 3 tiered cake for 115 people. It was so good and people were commenting how moist it was! We also transported it to the venue ourselves. They set it up in a big box so it wouldn't move too much and I had my sister hold it while I drove with no issues! Definitely recommend them!

Some of the best tasting wedding cakes are made at grocery store bakeries. Talk to the head baker there and ask how they do transportation and packaging.
