Wedding celebration ideas??

Kate, on April 26, 2020 at 8:45 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 4
We are getting married overseas, and as we assumed not everyone can go, we mostly invited family and close friends since we knew the majority of our friends wouldn’t be able to attend something overseas. We would however like to celebrate with people who aren’t attending once we’ve gotten married. Any ideas? We’re looking into pricing for renting a catered venue but that looks pricey after paying for an actual wedding ceremony + reception. Would it be weird to just throw a dinner party at home? Also wondering if it would be rude to book a portion of a restaurant but have people pay for their own meal? Considering renting an outdoor space and providing food ourselves too- With so many different diets these days that poses as a difficult task though. I don’t want to come across rude or inconsiderate to guests but looking for something affordable and manageable for everyone.

Ideas and thoughts welcome!

Yes, it would be considered rude. If you invited someone to your wedding you wouldn’t ask them to pay for the food at the venue. You can do a BBQ style dinner at home to cut costs. If do decide to cater, Mexican and Italian are the most cost effective options.

I definitely don’t think you should have people pay. You could do something more casual considering it’s more like a get together like even something at your house, so long as you host it yourself

Thanks! I didn’t think so either, my future MIL proposed everyone pay their way or potluck and I thought it was rude but wanted opinions.

Your best bet is a either catered in to your own home, or a BBQ. You could probably ask some of your *family* to help bring in food, but I wouldn't ask your guests to help at all.
