Wedding Centerpiece for Rustic Wedding with No Candles

Katelyn, on February 14, 2022 at 11:03 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11
Hello everyone!

My wedding is in about 2.5 months and I’m still figuring out my table centerpieces. It’s at a winery in a barn, and we’re going to have 8’ long barn house tables with burlap runners and a eucalyptus and rose garland running down the middle. Here is a picture of the tables for a previous wedding at our venue that shows a general idea of what we’re going for (except they don’t have the same garland that we will):Wedding Centerpiece for Rustic Wedding with No Candles 1
Here is what I currently have (the garland is a placeholder for the eucalyptus one that’s currently in the mail):

We will have white plates with gold trim and navy napkins, and our table numbers will be in a gold frame, but it seems a little empty still. We can’t have real candles, so either we could do fake candles, or fairy lights, or a light in the bottom of a vase with clear stones in there. Does anyone have idea or inspiration? We’re trying to keep it as cheap as possible without it looking cheap. Thanks! 😊

I agree with this idea! I love the fairy lights and candles mixed in. Otherwise, you could always get a second garland so that it appears a little more full?

Honestly, I think it looks nice as is. The table will look much more full with the plates, glasses, and silverware.

We had a similar set up and used taper candles that we left unlit to add some height variation because I didn’t like the look of the LED tapers

Yeah I’m likely going to double-up the garlands I just bought. I also ordered fairy lights so I can try those out too!

Thank you, and good point! It’s hard to imagine without all of the items on the table yet

I like the idea of some fake tea lights in votives to scatter along the garland - if you get gold mercury or another color votive, people probably won't notice (nor should they care) that the candles inside are fake!

I will echo - fairy lights! Love em. If you wanted to add other things you could do small vases with an LED candle at the bottom and blue and navy roses on top (fake or real!) for some added heigh differentiation. You could do pillar candles unlit, as suggested above, or depending on the full aesthetic of your day (you said its in a barn, but I never assume) you could do mason jars (or even wine glasses!) filled with battery operated tiny tiny fairy lights inside.

These could also be massively customized. You could have flowers coming out of them or change the light colors. Or do a paint spray to make them slightly opaque ... lots of options.

You could also do letters, such as your initials in there as well. An unfinished wood, or that cardboard type substance ones they sell at craft stores. Or you could make your own and paint them. You could have rose petals sprinkled in as well... Lots of options that you can keep the costs down of! Take look at places like the Dollar Tree and Oriental Trading Company. I just bought 96 candle holders for my centerpieces from the Dollar Tree. Its giving me 6 (!) extra candles per table (with some to spare!) and cost me under $100 (with free shipping when shipped to the store). Things can look really elegant and gorgeous and be secretly cheap as heck ( my favorite kind of way to be! ).

I agree that it looks nice the way it is, but mixing in some fairy lights would be super cute! We are also having garlands and not putting any candles or anything else on the tables because we wanted quite a pared back, masculine look (the rest of the flowers are VERY floofy and girly) and I like the idea that my guests won't have to lean to one side of a big arrangement or a candelabra to be able to see each other across the table and chat!
