Wedding ceremony and reception in same room

Colleen, on May 23, 2017 at 9:02 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 6

Me and fiance were going to have our ceremony outside but due to the hassle and stress of setting and cleaning everything up. We decided to have it at the hall where our reception will be. We are going to do a first look and pictures before the ceremony. So I was wondering if anyone has ever done this before? If so. What happened after the ceremony? Did you stay at the cocktail hour then get introduced before dinner? We are both have wedding parties. The guests will be seated at their seats.

I have been to several weddings where the ceremony and reception were in the same place. A couple of them, the ceremony has been outside and the reception has been indoors. One did the ceremony right in the reception room. I actually prefer it being in the same place! My ceremony and reception will be at the same location, but (weather permitting) the ceremony will be outdoors by a lake. We are planning to do first look photos so we can enjoy our cocktail hour. Cocktail hour and reception are in two different rooms that are connected, so we will probably be introduced when we walk in. I think however you want to do it is fine!

We are having the ceremony at the hall as well. But we aren't having a bridal party type thing so there is no need for anyone to enter. We figure we will just do the ceremony and then just sort of say "Thank you" and start mingling I guess. We haven't really worked out the details of this part yet. It's a good point now that you mention it. Hmmm....

We have an all inclusive venue and they will be flipped int room. We will have our ceremony then the guests will move out of the room into another area for cocktail hour. At the end of the hour they will come back into the room for the ceremony. The venue staff will be flipping the room for us though. I would not want to have to move and reset the room myself in my dress and such. Anyway, the bottom line is we are having both in the same room and it is quite common with smaller weddings at my venue.

We are having everything outside. Table will line the walk way to the arch.

Ours is exactly the same type of set up. It is one room. Ceremony seating will be at the tables. There is nowhere to put everyone to change over the room so it has to be that way. So far the responses have been positive about it. We are going to have the pics and do first look prior to the ceremony. Then after the ceremony we are going to do a few more pics and give the guests time to grab a drink, then come back in with an announcement. I think, at least. The plan keeps changing here and there.
