Wedding Colors? Using One Color With Multiple Shades.

JenniferandRick, on December 10, 2014 at 3:43 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

I was thinking about using a light blue or an ice blue, and white for my wedding colors. I'm second guessing this idea and thinking about using multiple shades of blue and white. I would like to keep the blue shades light and add a touch of dark in certain areas of decor.

Has anyone tried using multiple shades of one color? If so, do you have pics? I would love to see them.

I'm using multiple shades of purple. 3 shades to be exact. This is a picture of my sample centerpieces that my florist made. To the side at the bottom you can see a sample of my bouquet. I haven't chosen my bridesmaids dresses yet but it will look something like this

My only color is blue! I am doing light blue hydrangeas, light blue delphinium blossoms in my flowers (white white hydrangea, white roses and baby's breath)... my BM dresses are "once upon a time" blue from Alfred Angelo....my shoes are a sapphire blue...

Just like you my theme is shades of blue. Seems quite popular for next spring. Highlights are silver within the decor. You got great taste like mwoi.

I am doing multiple shades of pink ( blush and dark pink) as well as purple ( Plum and orchid) combine with peach and gold. I love blue and would have used this if I didn't do purple an and pink.

I thought I wanted everything to be purple and to match perfectly, the reception lighting, the bridesmaid dresses and guys ties and vests with the flowers and cake but different shades definitely looks better even if you add different colors all together (pinks, whites, and greens). I had no clue what my flowers were going to look like, because my MIL insisted on taking care of it and I was dealing with everything else already. I imagined something like the first one and instead got the second one and third one. So happy I trusted the expert florist and my MIL.

Thanks ladies! I thought maybe i was the only one thinking about shades of color and wasn't sure if it would look ridiculous.

I'm loving the pics! I think I've FINALLY made up my mind...whew.

I'm doing two colors, but lots of different shades of those two. Ignore the bouquet on the tables. That was something the linens woman put together to see how everything looked.

The first picture is our sweetheart table, the second is how a guest table will look, and the bouquet is a sort of inspiration for my flowers. I think we have a much darker sparkly black linen thrown in for cocktail tables too, I just don't have a picture of it. My bridesmaids are wearing a blushy/pale rose color and the groomsmen are wearing gray.

ETA: Sorry for those pictures being turned the wrong way! I'm not sure how to fix it.

Thank you Dori L. The Flowers were from Whitfield's By Design and include my favorite, Stargazer lilies. The bridesmaid dresses were $60 from JC Penney's.

My idea is to use multiple shades of reds, especially darker ones (berry, wine, burgundy etc) with accents of gold. I'll post my inspiration pics a bit later.

    Bwuahaha Melissa!

We are doing navy, white, cornflower bkue, and blush pink. Technically our napkins are royal blue, but they look close enough to navy. So we ended up using multiple shades of blue.

I love all the purple.. I cant say we have a set color, best guess is it would be shades of green. BM dresses are all different colors (one is teal, one is a darker shade of teal & one is patterned with both the shades of teal & navy too) Our boquest are a little cream & mostly greenery, centerpeices and all the decor is wood colors & green shades.
