Wedding Colors

You will get a lot of people telling you that the parents can wear whatever they want. But a lot of parents (especially moms) also ask the bride for ideas. And I come from a social circle where the parents always follow the wedding colors pretty closely.

So I originally didn't think this was even something I needed to worry about then my mom and MIL started asking me what they should wear. Our colors are navy and rust orange, groomsmen in navy, BMs in orange. So I told my mom she can go with something in the lighter blues or blush/coral tones. MIL can choose from those as well, and I'll let her decide if she wants to match my mom or go with the other color depending on what my mom chooses. For the dads, I think we're assuming they'll either be in dark gray or navy suits with ties to match the moms' outfits.

You could choose colors in the lighter blue tones, or could have the moms in a dark plum. They could also be in a light or dark gray and that would match with the colors you've chosen. Dad's you can also do similar to what I mentioned above, or have them match the groomsmen if you'd prefer.

I think it all just depends on how closely you want them to match! I don't mind everyone staying in the same color families if they're all good with it. I know for my SIL's wedding my MIL wore bright red because that was their wedding color that the BMs weren't wearing, and to me that made her look like she was part of the decor lol. So I personally prefer them having something close, but not exact.
