Wedding Contract

Hillary, on August 27, 2019 at 12:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

We are about to sign a contract for our wedding at a hotel. The hotel's cancellation clause requires that we pay the entire fee in the event we cancel. Is this normal? I've seen prorated fees for cancellation based on the date you cancel (for non-wedding events), but never 100% regardless of cancellation date.

It depends on the place. I've seen some say you pay the remainder if you cancel within 90 days and I've seen some where you pay the remainder no matter when it it. Its really just to protect them from loosing business. If you cancel and no one fills that spot they are loosing money. It's annoying but I think its pretty normal.

Okay interesting. We're alarmed because it seems so stringent, but if other vendors do it as well...that's at least comforting to know
