Wedding Crashers??? How about Hotel Room Block crashers!!!

Kathryn, on October 30, 2014 at 6:07 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 19

Yep! I got an email today from our hotel room block informing me of the updated list of guests who have booked rooms for the weekend of our wedding. I recognized all of them except one and a guest. I call FH and ask if the name sounds familiar (distant relative, cousin I didn't know about etc) and he said he did not recognize it. I call the hotel ask if there is any information they can give to help us figure out who it is. They are using our discounted hotel room rate, we have to get something! Upon further investigation it was determined that they were not associated with our wedding. Of course the hotel said "They might have been added to the wrong wedding party block" Umm... No. We have a "code" and password that is required to book our room block. I have a feeling (not a conspiracy theorist!) that since my wedding website is open to the public, no password to get in, MAYBE someone saw the room block info and booked a discounted rate! I'll never know, but password ladies!!!

LOL. We will be using all of our rooms or else I'd find out what room they were in, knock on the door, wait til they open it and say "I know who you are, what you did and now you're taking me down stairs and you're buying me a drink. And don't you dare try to stop me if I want to order mozzarella sticks.... I'll shank you. Lets go." Haha

How weird! Can the hotel boot them from your block?

We had one too. No clue who they were at all. But I was happy to have the Marriott points get credited to me!

This is why I password protected the travel page on my website. I didn't want just any Joe using the rate.

Honestly, I worked in a hotel for 8 years and that never happened. (6 of the 8 years were spent in the reservations office). Its likely as has been said that the hotel agent just attached the person to the wrong block.

Hahahahaha that is too funny!! I work for a hotel and I've seen matters go different meaning all the rooms were not booked and the parents of the bride kept asking me if we could book any walk-ins under their block so they wouldn't be responsible for them.

    Passwords! lol

Funny you posted about this. The other day someone posted a forum on posting your wedding website. I checked a few girls out & noticed they had their code posted about the hotel discount. I had this exact thought when I read that. I wonder how many people see these on wedding websites & use them!

We will have around 40 hotel rooms booked so we probably wouldn't even notice if somebody else slipped into the mix. Our hotel is near the airport with a free shuttle so it could happen. My only issue would be some random person getting a welcome bag.

Haha I wonder how often that happens. In my case, I wouldn't care because they just open more rooms for us. But yeah that would be annoying. I wonder how you can control that.

Wow! That is crazy! But also really funny. If you need that room with the hotel add an extra room for guests actually attending your wedding?

That's actually kinda creepy if they found your wedding website then used the info to get a hotel room block discount-- do people actually do things like that? Like, do a google search for weddings happening near their vacation destination just to find a cheaper rate?

That's really creepy and really smart, all at the same time.

I guess theoretically if you are getting a hotel room on a Saturday there's a good chance there is a wedding room block! Lol. I believe for a recent wedding I attended I just said wedding party block and they just looked it up in the system so I could see it happening.

I got some great deals for our guest at the lodge we are using....I don't think I would have had an issue if someone else found out and used it.
