Wedding date stories

Kristen, on January 4, 2021 at 5:45 PM Posted in Planning 1 48
Hello everyone. Whether you're getting married or got married please share your reasoning for choosing your wedding date. Was it because the date has meaning behind it or was it simply because that was the date of available active in your you wanted. I will say I'm on the latter half. I got married this year November 8th and there's no special meeting behind our date rather I found the perfect and affordable venue and they offered elopement specials on Sundays and that was one of the days my husband chose cuz I was thinking maybe October and he said if why don't we hido November 8th. I will say a little back story is that the fall and the winter are my favorite Seasons especially because in Florida it start to cool down and even on the hottest days it is nothing like summer in Florida where it's just humid. I knew I have always wanted a fall wedding so it was easy choosing the season and even though there's no special meaning behind the date now November 8th is very special in my heart because it's the day that I finally got to marry the man that I loved and we started our new Journey as husband and wife. What's your story

?

Hi yay! So happy for you! Our favorite season is fall and all of our fave colors are geared toward fall vibes. We love all the shades of oranges, yellows, reds, etc. so beautiful and so much to work with. Our date is 10.10.21. No personal, special meaning behind it, but it fits the criteria of being in the fall and on a Sunday. We opted for a Sunday wedding because it was significantly cheaper for the area/venue we wanted, plus I took a chance on Columbus Day weekend just in case some guests had that Monday off. I know Columbus Day isn’t a a big holiday for “being off”, but some people off is being better than none so whatever works and I have notified all of our guests well ahead of time. Anyways, we love fall so 10/10 works! Plus we love the crisp-ness of 10/10 lol. Perfect Smiley winking

We wanted to get married during the winter. We got married in the mountains and knew we wanted some snow for pictures (and because we love snow) but not so much snow and so cold that we couldn’t be outside.
November doesn’t have enough snow, December/January normally has some, February/March is too much snow.
We ended up choosing December and chose 12/6 because it was far enough from Christmas and our venue had it available.

We got married on July 25th because that is the day we met. About 3 months later, we both knew we wanted to get married and noticed that July 25th was on a Saturday in 2020 and BOOM! We had our date. We didn't get engaged for another year, but when he proposed I already knew when our wedding would be! 😍

We picked our original date because it was exactly halfway between my birthday and my fiance's birthday! Since we postponed, our new date is still in between our birthdays, but just a couple days off from being exactly halfway.

January 19 (almost 2 years married now!) MLK weekend.

I wanted to be married before I graduated from school, I didn’t want a long engagement. I was in graduate school (Saturday classes and can’t miss without it effecting your grade) and would be student teaching. I didn’t know what that schedule would look like and it didn’t come out until just a month or so before so hard to plan Around it. It was MLK weekend in 2018 (2 weeks after getting engaged), Saturday morning and instead of sitting in class I was sitting at home doing homework when I had an epiphany. I’m off today that means I’ll be off this weekend next year. Let’s get married this weekend next year! And he agreed so we had a date. Once I wrote it out I loved how it looked. It was perfect I didn’t want to change it 1/19/19 😊

Nothing special about our date. Was just the last date of my apartment lease and I wanted to live separate from FH before marriage.

I let my husband choose it. so he chose one based on what was best for his work schedule.

that date also happened to be my bff [who was MOH] birthday too

Sucks that Sunday weddings are cheaper but smart move doing it before Colombus day. Ooooh I love that color scheme and I hope your wedding goes as you envision.

We got married July 20, 2019. We were limited on when we could get married because three of our five siblings were also getting married in 2019 and we didn't want the weddings to be too close together. My brother got married the first week in April, the brother-in-law got married the last day in August, and my sister was supposed to get married mid-October, but she broke up with her fiancé so the wedding was cancelled. She did start dating someone else soon after and they eloped the beginning of December on my husband's birthday. I had wanted to get married in October or September, but October wasn't an option at that point because we booked our venue before my sister cancelled her wedding and September wasn't an option because my brother-in-law was looking at venues with September dates. The venue they wanted only had August 31 available or November so they went with August.

Funnily enough, I picked the date before I met him LOL.

I was at work talking with a friend about being single or something, since at the time I hadn't dated anyone in years. Wedding dates came up and I started fast-forwarding through the calendar and picked 10/10/2020, then joked that all I needed to do was meet someone.

We started dating 5/15/15, got engaged in August of 2018, and... 10/10/20 seemed perfect! We both wanted a fall wedding, and it played well with our dating anniversary, so we chose it!

Lol 😂 Oh trust me, they're definitely different dates for that reason! Far enough apart to where we could go out for all three separately (my birthday, my fiance's birthday, and our anniversary) - and get cake for all three too! - yet close enough to where we get to nonstop celebrate for a few weeks lol.
