Hello everyone. Whether you're getting married or got married please share your reasoning for choosing your wedding date. Was it because the date has meaning behind it or was it simply because that was the date of available active in your you wanted. I will say I'm on the latter half. I got married this year November 8th and there's no special meeting behind our date rather I found the perfect and affordable venue and they offered elopement specials on Sundays and that was one of the days my husband chose cuz I was thinking maybe October and he said if why don't we hido November 8th. I will say a little back story is that the fall and the winter are my favorite Seasons especially because in Florida it start to cool down and even on the hottest days it is nothing like summer in Florida where it's just humid. I knew I have always wanted a fall wedding so it was easy choosing the season and even though there's no special meaning behind the date now November 8th is very special in my heart because it's the day that I finally got to marry the man that I loved and we started our new Journey as husband and wife. What's your story

?

I am a teacher so trust me I know. I wanted to take our honeymoon during thanksgiving break but he did not want to give up our fave holiday even though we did not celebrate until Christmas lol.

No real meaning behind the date. I always knew I wanted to get married in January - a time of new beginnings. We chose January 16 because it was MLK weekend and when we were planning a big 250 person wedding in New Orleans, we knew everyone would need and appreciate the extra day. Now that we are having our Plan B, 20 person wedding in Destin, there won’t be a big party. But my fiancé and I will participate in the city’s volunteer Day of Service on MLK Day during our minimoon there.

I swear our date was written in the stars. I have been wishing on 11:11 since I was a child. Then FH and I met in November (the 11th month) of 2010. Our first date was November 11th, 2017 (11-11), and on my way to his house I saw my first ever shooting star. We both have 11-11 tattooed on us. Then, when we got engaged, I knew I would only have a wedding in the Fall (totally Fall obsessed). We both immediately said “11-11”. And, coincidently, it will also be exactly 11 years from when we first met. I am 100% confident this is our meant to be wedding date 🖤✨

Oooooh that is still good reason for that date. I am sure you will still have fun even with your party of 20.

Our original date was 7/11/20. Since I am a teacher, I wanted a Saturday July date that wouldn't be too hot. It was also a fun date. However, COVID happened and so we changed to 11/28/20. This was the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so we thought it would lend itself well to husband's out-of-state family who could then come celebrate Thanksgiving here followed by the wedding. Again, COVID continued. We then decided to get married on 9/24/20, which was our 3 year anniversary. We'll have our reception 11/27/21, which is again the Saturday after Thanksgiving (not only will it hopefully allow for easier travel for husband's family, but it was also the only available fall Saturday left at our venue due to reschedulings).

I understand that teacher life. I wanted to do our honeymoon during thanksgiving break but he did not and I felt well if he needs to take time off work so should I lol.

We were 10/10/2020, the "cool date" everyone wanted. We are now 4/10/21, which I picked because it was available but I also like that it's exactly 6 months later 🙂

We're definitely going to be doing a honeymoon in summer because I want a nice looong vacation. Our original honeymoon was scheduled to be 12 days, though I may extend it at this point since we're going to have to wait so long! I'm being completely selfish in this regard to time off!

I understand. I reserve dinners for epic trips. I love my husband but he wanted a resort which is out of my style of travel. 7 us of that was too much lol.

Our date is February 19th which is officially the day we met each other and had our 1st encounter. I was struggling with finding a date that worked for us and felt right. I happen to be scrolling through Facebook and I saw a memory of a FB post that I made after our 1st encounter about how I felt from meeting him and then I saw the date fell on Saturday so here we are 13 months out.

The saying I'm going to try to tie into the wedding is

"The Day We Said Hello is The Day We Say I Do"

Hahaha! I love this response 😆
Our date is actually the day before my birthday (and his cousin’s bday who will be in the wedding), and 6 days before my fiancé’s birthday. I loved that I will get to party with friends & family on my wedding night, then again the next night (since it’s a destination wedding and guests will be staying 4 days). And the fact that there are 3 bdays that week means we will just have to party that much harder LOL
Plus, I figured if both our bdays, our dating anniversary and our wedding anniversary were all on the same week, then it would give us a great excuse to plan trips/big celebrations each year (instead of multiple small ones).

Just so you know, a lot of Asian parents or couples often sets their wedding date after talking with a “fortune teller”. The new generation choose “pretty dates” such as 01/01, 02/02, 11/11, 01/02, and oh 08/08 is veryyyy preferred! It’s considered a lucky number, or they choose to go with what the teller told them base on their birth dates, location of births, and so on.
    It’s kind of astrological too.

We got engaged on NYE last year, and FH’s only request was that our wedding be between October and March because that is the off season for dirt track racing *insert eye roll*! Ultimately I didn’t want a long engagement, so we decided the fall would be best. We found out when the venue was available and cross-checked those dates with our preferred dj. We got married on November 14!

Ironically, I’m also a teacher and always assumed I’d get married during the summer since I’m off. Ultimately, I was so relieved that it wouldn’t be hot and humid outside, and wedding excitement was the only thing that got me through the first half of the school year! Lol

I wanted to get married on our anniversary, because it was a Saturday and also the 13th, which is unpopular, BUT.

    1. ILs are traditionally out of the country on that day

    2. It was a smidge over 6 months after we got engaged

    3. Didn't really work for the rest of the family

So, we knew we wanted to get married in the summer, we figured out what days were no go for the family, found a venue we loved with at least one of the dates open.... and landed on Aug 24.

LOL I feel you on the eye roll. During baseball & football fantasy draft season that dictates our date nights -_-. Forget if there is a Patriots game lol. Yeah funny it would make sense to get married during the summer but in Florida these summers are sucky and rainy season. Granted on our day Eta was brewing lol.

Our date 10.17.21 is special for a few reasons:

We wanted our wedding date to have a good foundation based in numerology

We adore October, Fall, and the number 10.

We chose October 17th as a potential wedding date before we became engaged and then it was our due date for our son. We knew then that it was meant to be.

*We had decided to get married on our 5 year date anniversary of April 15, 2021 in a minimony but have decided against it. Our October date just works better*
