Wedding day deodorant

TheHamWhites, on July 8, 2017 at 1:37 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 29

Hi everyone! Unfortunately, I'm blessed with overactive sweat glands on my underarms (yay) I usually apply deodorant twice a day normally. I don't like the prescription strength stuff from the doctors (it irritates my arms really bad) and have been using a combination of suave and Mitchum deodorant...I'm just wondering if anyone has the same "issue" as me and what deodorant you use? I don't want to have to worry about reapplying deodorant during the wedding lol.

Thanks!

You could talk to your Dr. and consider Botox for hyperhidrosis, it's a legit medical condition that your insurance may cover. Especially if you have tried and failed other RX options. Good luck!

I agree with jess'sgirl. My BIL has the same condition for his hands and he took shots and his sweat has decreased dramatically in his palms. Talk to your Dr. This will not only give you a more glamorous wedding day but also let every day be a little better

I don't have the same condition but I do manage to overpower most traditional deodorants very rapidly. I have insane body chemistry and I do the same thing to perfume, even pure perfumes disappear almost immediately on me. Mitchum used to be my go to and then inexplicably stopped working. I tried tons of options and finally found that Secret Clinical Strength works amazing for me both for wetness and odor. I love it.

Sweaty Betty here! I like a roll-on/spray combo. Right now I'm using secret clinical strength with degree clear dry spray on top. I've also found that using before bed has helped.

I had no idea Botox for sweating could be covered by insurance! I know my current insurance won't cover it but after the wedding when I get on FH's I am going to definitely look into it. I've paid for Botox to help with facial sweating and it's pricey but the only thing I've found that works. I'm actually considering shelling out more to some injections on the back of my neck.

    Good luck!

I used secret outlast forever and it worked so great! My underarms started getting really irritated so I had to switch. Now I use Toms and it works great!

This may seem kinda weird but I had this issue and started using men's deodorant and it actually helped a lot. I use Old Spice antiperspirant in the Fiji scent (it smells the least like a typical guy scent imo)

I just started using Dove Clinical Strength and I love it. I sweat constantly and other drugstore kinds never really worked all day

I don't have a recommendation for a new one but don't worry about having to apply extra deoderant the day of the wedding. Totally normal thing to do!

If Botox isn't an option for you, I use a product called Sweat Block. I ordered it through amazon but I think you can buy it elsewhere (probably cheaper). It's little wipes that you can use on most extra sweaty areas. I am so happy to have found this product and plan to use either the night or two nights before the wedding. You apply it at night after a shower, then I usually get another shower in the morning to shave. Stings like a bitch if you apply after a fresh shave or wax. After that I put on my regular deodorant. Good luck!

If you consider trying this for your wedding, make sure you test it before hand. Some of the reviews talk about bad reactions but I have had zero problems!

Try a product at SEPHORA by Derma Doctor. It's called meditate wipes. Works AWESOME. Use it a few times. Directions are simple. (User advice - do it BEFORE you use any lotion or deodorant)

I use Botox for chronic migraine, and I also work with biologic medications, so I'm aware that most manufacturers offer financial assistance for high dollar products. Smiley smile

I plan to reapply deodorant on my wedding day as well as touch up on hair and makeup. Following this post for suggestions on good deodorant though.
