Wedding Day Set Up

Halie, on July 16, 2020 at 6:59 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
My fiancé and I are hosting a small wedding ceremony and cake/punch reception. We are most likely going to rent a couple of tables for the cake, drinks, and small food bites. Who sets this up at the venue? Who sets up our cake/food?

Our short event (3 hours total) is at a nature center so we don’t have a wedding planner or DOC. However, staff will set up the chairs outdoors. I feel like I am just missing something.

You could see if the nature center has a coordinator themselves that could do it. if not then you might need to hire someone or have someone help you out

We have asked some friends and family to help set up for our ceremony because it’s at a park, and our venue has a DOC that will decorate and set up for the reception. Wherever you’re renting from may set up the tables for a fee. Where is the food coming from? If you have a bakery delivering cake or caterer bringing food, they will set up their stuff, if not you’ll need to ask someone or hire someone.

Usually places like that provide spacing but the set up is on you. You can ask friends or family to help or there are companies that can set that up for you. Maybe a day of coordinator?

Normally that's up to the bride and groom to figure out. My brother-in-law's wife set up for their wedding the night before with the help of her mom and bridal party.

If the cake is being delivered, that person can usually set it up/put it on a stand for you. If the only other thing you're having is punch, someone in your bridal party/family can set out plates/napkins/forks/cups ahead of time and just take the punch out at the last minute. Ask the rental company to set up the tables.

If the venue does not have staff available to setup then your families will be responsible. Talk to the venue and see what their policy is.

I'm going to have my bridal party help set up food and desert.

If you can't ask the wedding party to help, maybe hire a DOC? They're really worth it, honestly. I want the wedding party with us all day and enjoying themselves, not working, so the DOC and staff is really important to us.
