Wedding day timeline. How early to get hair and makeup done!

Randi , on May 23, 2017 at 11:37 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

I need some opinions on what time I should ask my hairdressers to do my hair . We are doing a simple updo. The trail only took her maybe 1/2 hour tops. She mentioned 7am and I am not getting married until 3pm!! In my opinion I think that is way too early. I do need to travel to the venue. Which is about 15 min away. So I should be completely ready by 2pm I think. What are your thoughts?

Are you not doing photos before ceremony? If so--work backwards from when you wants pics done and build in some extra time (I built in an extra hour--and should have build in an extra 90 min) but we had a lot going on with 10 girls in hair and makeup.

It really all depends on what you want to happen before the ceremony. My wedding is at 2pm. My makeup and hair appt. is set up for 8:30am. Stylists tend to take a little longer on the day of. So keep that in mind.

I also want to do getting ready pictures with my girls and a first look with my Dad. But if you aren't doing all those things, I would say being ready by 2 should work.

Build in extra time so you don't feel rushed! You don't want to be stressed on your wedding day because you ran out of time!

The girl doing my hair/make up should be in the house by 9ish. We have a 90 travel to the venue, and we plan on being at the venue by 2pm. So I think you can start later than 7am

My wedding is at 3 and my make up artist is coming at 9am. We're doing pictures before the ceremony, but only 2 people are getting makeup done.

If you are taking any pictures before the ceremony you'll need to add in time for those as well! Also - ask your hair and makeup people for how much time they need per person.

Our ceremony started at 5pm and our hair and makeup team arrived at 9am!

Our ceremony is at 3pm and the beautification process begins at 9am. We're using separate stylists for hair and make-up and had to plan about 30 minutes travel time. Also, we are doing getting ready pics as well as first look, so needed to factor that into the timing as well. Our photographer was great about providing feedback on our sample timeline.

My hair and make up team started on my girls, there WAS SEVEN, at 6:30 am for my 3:30 pm ceremony. As the bride, my make up and hair started at 10:30. We aimed to be ready for when the photographer came at 12:30 and we were.

If you don't have an event coordinator, I would have a discussion with your photographer about plans and shots. Get a clear idea about that. Check with venue and verify when they need you in house by. Then communicate that time line to your MUA so maybe you can get a tad more shut eye. Smiley smile
