Wedding decor colors vs wedding party colors

DabC, on September 23, 2020 at 2:59 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 7

Hey folks! So question. Does the reception room decor have to match the colors the wedding party is wearing?? Like what does it actually mean when ppl say "what are your wedding colors?" The table/napkin colors offered at the venue are not the right colors so I was going to just choose white to avoid having to purchase some of my own. Wedding party is wearing wine and champagne. The reception room is silver and white colored walls with silver and black chairs. Actually, I'll post a pic. I'll also post a pic of the colors the venue offers. Any feedback on this will be appreciated. If details matter, it's a brunch wedding, 50 guests, close family & friends.

They don’t have to match, per say. However, it does look better when your reception and wedding have a cohesive look.

It doesn’t have to match. Was at a wedding this weekend and the colors were red and blue but all the decor was like white and pink

I think white, silver, and black are all "neutral" colors -- especially in room decor -- and I think your wine and champagne wedding colors (I'd assume bridesmaids' dresses, centerpieces, men's accessories, etc.) will be fine. Based on the photos, it looks like uplighting is an option at your venue? If so, I'd try to avoid the bright pink and purple uplighting in the photos, and go with more neutral tones like white or champagne. Other than that, I think you're good! FWIW daughter's primary color was dark green with champagne and soft pink accents. She went with the venue's ivory linens, which were included and provided a neutral background, rather than pay more for "matching" linens.

That's a really pretty venue!! And I think your venue's decor is fairly neutral, and nothing to worry about!

When friends and family (and your vendors!) ask you what your colors are, they mean the colors you'll have your bridal party wear and the main colors of your decor (flowers, linens, invitations, etc). 🎨

Thanks for responding. I was wondering why that picture looked like that lol I didn't even inquire about uplighting. For a day event I don't think it's necessary, I really like the room as is but I'm taking my mom and MIL to see the venue today so I'll be sure to ask about it.

Ok cool, so even though in my head it sounds like those colors don't look good together, it seems you thought everything looked fine. That's reassuring.
