Wedding decor resale?

Stephanie, on March 23, 2016 at 12:11 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 21

Hey gals,

I'm currently looking into purchasing wedding decor (mainly centerpieces). My budget is very tight for decor, and it seems renting is just way too expensive.

I already lucked out on 3 great chalkboards from craigslist and have been eye-ing tradsey.com...

But do you know of any good websites where real brides re-sell their decor for cheap?

My goal would be to do each centerpiece for ~$5-10 (not including flowers). I don't know if thats possible...but would be great!

Thanks for the help! Smiley smile

I'm guessing DIY isn't your thing, but you could also try making it yourself. I'm doing my own non-floral centerpieces for about $13 each and that's only because it includes a $10 bottle of wine.

Thanks for the tips! I haven't heard of ruffled (recycle your wedding). Looks good!

I have consider DIY too.. for example mason jars and lace. But I'm not really the best crafter, just okay. But sometimes things turn out looking a little elementary...

If found a DIY craft that was simple enough, I could do it! But sometimes craft supply costs can add up quickly.

The WW facebook site is great for this! You may also find your area has local FB resale sites.

Not including flowers my centerpieces cost about $2 a piece. Stephanie, I didn't think I was crafty either, until I bought a glue gun and found my first simple idea. Pinterest has tons of simple, easy DIY centerpiece ideas.

These are my centerpieces, found at ikea for $3.99, once I buy the candles/batteries (I'm using battery tea lights) then it'll cost no more than $5 a piece, but it'll be cheaper with real candles, I just didn't want the hassle of waiting for the wax to cool then clean up. This set up was actually cheaper than mason jars

Michaels is really stocked up on wedding decoration right now with times of chalkboards. (I'm using these too!)

Fortunately they have nicer ones that are sturdier and might be $15-$30 as well as smaller flimsy ones that are just fine for decoration ranging three dollars to 15.

Sign up for their coupons, yes you get spammed but you will get a 40% off one item coupon like three times a week seriously. You can always unsubscribe later.

I go in and get 40% off of an adorable $15 chalkboard and I'll go back the next day and get 40% off of something else lol

1st, I LOVE ALL OF THE DIY DECOR PICS!! Now I'm getting inspired to try my own Smiley laugh

2nd.. after looking through these trade/sell sites.. I found they are A LOT more expensive than I thought!!

So I did actually go with some "store bought" pieces. As many of you suggested Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc. I managed to get these bird cage candle holders for only $4 each!

    http://www.hobbylobby.com/Home-Decor-Frames/Candles-Fragrance/Candle-Holders/Black-Metal-Bird-Cage-with-Votive-Candle-Holder/p/109931

I think I will fill the cages with baby's breath and LED candles.

My house is slowly being filled with more and more love-bird themed decor... in mint, coral and gold.. haha Smiley smile I told my FI that after the wedding we will just have to have lots of bird decor in the house and he said "Thats great! I like birds!" It works Smiley winking
