Wedding dress anxiety

Imamanda12, on September 30, 2019 at 11:03 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
I’ve always been a curvier girl and my weight fluctuates. When I went to pick up my wedding dress It looked even better than I remembered. It fit PERFECTLY! Very minor alterations. Lately I’ve been putting off getting those alterations because I’ve feel like I’ve gained weight. I have 40 days till my wedding. What if it doesn’t fit?! What if they can’t alter it to fit me?! I’m so nervous and I need to not put off these alterations but I’m afraid to try it on again. Anyone going through the same thing? Any advice for losing a couple inches fast? Thanks in advance

I just ordered my dress last month but that's my biggest fear!. I lost almost 30 lbs over a period of 3 -4 months by taking an appetite suppressant pill. I was desperate to lose weigh and my biggest problem was controlling how much I eat. When I ate I felt full but my brain would tell me I had to finish everything on my plate, and that's why I was gaining so much weight. I started march 18 at 162 lbs and when I stopped the pills in June I was at 133. I've been pretty good at maintaining my weight. I mean besides the pills I counted calories, ate healthier, ate less carbs and tried to make myself workout but honestly I rarely ever did, I lost all that weight with the pills, counting calories and low carb intake. Hope it helps!

I would try on the dress ASAP to make sure that its not all in your mind and get the alterations done if still needed. Maybe try intermitten fasting and watching your carbs which can be hard during stressful times. But think of your pictures and keep a picture of you in your dress as inspiration.

I got a corset back put in my dress for this exact reason -- my weight fluxuates a bit regularly. If you have time, I would suggest this to give you a little wiggle room. Mine had a zipper, which is pretty unforgiving if you fluxuate.

Try the dress on for sure! I work better off visualization. Once you try it on, you'll be able to see exactly how much you have to lose (if any). Then I recommend looking into Whole30. I lost 17 pounds in 30 days and so many inches. I've also done a 3 day juice cleanse that knocked off quite a few inches. Regardless, you will look beautiful!

Definitely go in now! It might be nothing or it might need a little alteration but what you don't want is to wait until it's too late and then have a big problem and stressor for your wedding day!

My dress fit beautifully when I got it but she wanted to add boning because it has dainty straps and didn't want that to be the only thing holding my dress up. Just in case they broke. So when I went for my second fitting she forgot about the boning and just tightened the sides. It no longer fit. She fixed that right there in front of me and added boning so I could try it on and she would know what else needed to be done. I go pick up my dress this Saturday for my wedding next week I am slightly nervous but my seamstress assured me if there are any issues when I pick it up and try it on she will fix it for me right then and there so I can still take it with my that day because I leave for TN on Wednesday.

I highly recommend getting it to a seamstress asap so they can decide what if any alterations need to happen. Also if she makes alterations MOST seamstresses won't cut anything that way any last minute details they can fix. So as long as you get it to a seamstress with some time to spare even if you fluctuate you can go for multiple fittings before the day. Also if you are very worried I have seen a lot of people do the corset style backs. Just remember, just because your weight fluctuates doesn't mean your inches do! Smiley laugh Good luck!

I agree with Cassi, take it in now to see what (if any) alterations need to be done. But at least you will get it done and off your mind and no longer have that dread of your dress no longer fitting right. Please, keep us up to date!

I also took this and lost 60 lbs, but I had to work out 3-5 days a week and eat 1200 calories. The problem is that as soon as I stopped them (they are bad for your heart and are not long term pills) the weight flew back on even though I kept dieting and working out.

I can SO relate!! Here's what I'm dealing with. I was diagnosed with a serious heart condition in February. My gown fit perfectly in January. Now my gown is way too small in my waist/ adomonial area due to fluid from my medical issue. I still have an hourglass figure, just MUCH larger. My wedding gown is at least 2-3 sizes too small. I'm ordering a custom made corset that will pull in my waist about 4 inches, we are adding a corset back, and if need be we'll add side gussets. My gown was very expensive and its been discontinued. Doing all this extra is worth it because I'm not well enough to go gown shopping again. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. You are definitely not alone. xx

Honestly I worked out for 2 weeks and then I stopped, I just kept taking the pills and counting calories, I used to stay at 1000 or less calories per day. I stopped taking the pill in June I've maintained my weight, I'm still not working but still trying to maintain a low calorie intake. And you're right is not a permanent solution but I just took it as way to also train myself to eat less, because that was one of my biggest things, I would continue to eat even if I was already full. It sucks that you gained your weight back, I haven't but I guess every body is different.
