Wedding Dress causing redness on skin, how can i fix this?

Allison, on December 1, 2017 at 2:20 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

Hi All! I bought a beautiful wedding dress that has see-through mesh on the chest area right below my neck. I noticed at my last two fittings that it creates a red mark from rubbing my skin. I don't know how to prevent this. Does anyone have any advice? I't's a small enough issue that it's not worth getting another dress but for pictures and day of I would definitely prefer not to have a rash right below my neck. I can't put any material underneath that area due to it being see through. Has anyone had this issue or have any suggestions on what I could do to prevent redness? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Try body glide. You rub it on your skin to prevent chafing. Target and amazon have it.

Is it because it's just rubbing against you or could it possibly be an allergic reaction?

If it's just rubbing, there was some deodorant-type thing that a bridal salon uses by me that magically helped the sequins from rubbing against my arms and I honestly couldn't feel the irritation of the sequins. I can see if I can find it if you'd like.

ETA - I think the one Rusty is talking about is probably the same.

ETA2 - Just realized you mentioned it was from rubbing. I need to take a break from the internet lol

It isn't beaded in the area that it is rubbing and causing redness. I don't think its an allergy either. I have sensitive skin there, whenever i'm anxious i tend to rub that area or put my hand there and it gets really red. So i don't know if i'm just out of luck on that? But the lady at my fitting suggested trying benadryl, just using half of a pill. I'm weary of doing that though because I don't know how my reaction will be. When i was a kid i was the opposite of most people and it made me hyper, a nightmare for my parents haha. But i've had friends who take it and they can't stay awake. Definitely don't need that on the wedding day!

Future Louie - If you can let me know what that's called that would be awesome!

RustytheDog - thanks! I'll look into that!

The one that they used on me was to prevent blisters on heels and I think it's called Fab Feet, but I'm not 100% sure how it'll hold up all day since I only wore it for about 5 minutes since I was just trying on bridesmaid dresses. Definitely try the other two before using the one I suggested!
