Wedding dress commission

hi_bride, on December 13, 2017 at 8:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

Do most stylists receive commission when the client decides to purchase a dress?

I know all stores are different but I'm just wondering in general if this tends to be the norm?

I'm not sure, think it depends on the store or boutique. Why does it matter? ETA.

I've never sold wedding gowns but I know David's assigns clients to consultants on a round robin schedule so I'm assuming they make commission.

I am not 100% sure but I believe they do work on commission. A few of mine followed up via email. When I decided on my dress, I made sure to make an appointment to go see the same consultant I previously spent time with.

I'm just wondering because I'm ready to place an order but the shop requested that I make another appointment to do so. The stylist I originally worked with isn't available for my appointment though I specifically asked to schedule with her as I want to be sure she receives the commission. She put in the work and even though I might retry the dress at this appointment, the stylist isn't having to do much to assist me and I don't want the original stylist to miss out on her hard earned $. I have brought this up with the shop and they continue to avoid the question so I was just wondering if stylists even make commission.

I would say yes! Most sales-based jobs offer commission or a bonus for the items they sold. Maybe not a percentage of the product, but it could be that they have to meet a certain goal to get the bonus. Think jewelry shops, stores in the mall, etc.

I was thinking the same thing. Thanks ladies for your input. Just trying to figure out if I should call and adamantly request to only work with the original stylist or just let it go

I worked at DB and you definitely make commission. It's so nice of you to even think of that! I'm sure she'll appreciate it(:
