Wedding dress dilemma?

Nat, on June 13, 2018 at 1:11 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 33
Hi! So I ordered my dress in March and it's not going to be ready until Christmas time! I LOVE it but another dress caught my eye. My first dress was 5900 but the other dress that caught my eye is almost double the amount. Should I even entertain the idea of this other dress? No store in my state carries this designer, but I am going to California next week and plenty of bridal boutiques do have it. Should I bother trying it on or am I just tormenting myself?? I can't justify wearing both since they are a little similar.. I don't want to post a picture of the dress I already purchased, but I'll post a picture of the one I'm eyeing. I guess I'm just wondering how other brides deal with this feeling!! Of falling in love with two dresses after you already bought one!

Don't do it. You have a dress you love. Stop looking at others. Seriously, don't cheat on your dress Smiley smile

I personally wouldn't take that kind of financial loss over a wedding gown, as most salons don't allow refunds or cancellations of orders. Nor would I spent over $15k on wedding dresses.. As Mim said, stop looking at other dresses.

Lol!! It's so hard!! It's funny because I wasn't actively looking at dresses, I was looking for photographers and the bride was wearing this gown!

That's a beautiful dress, but if you fell in love with the dress you purchased, I would stick with that one. If for some reason you change your mind and just can't see yourself in the one you already ordered, do it! But I wouldn't intentionally try it on and ruin the image of the dress you have now.

It looks to much like lingerie to me.

Can we see what you have now? Maybe there are alterations you can make so you like it better.

Stop looking at dresses. You already have one and it was expensive.

Yes, I am pretty hesitant on making an appointment to see it in person next week. If only my original dress wouldn't take so long to complete Smiley sad it's hard to visualize my original dress because the sample I tried on was nude pink.. And I had to order it in white. I guess I'm just feeling antsy because I don't have a clear vision for my dress!

Don't do it. (Not only can I not justify spending that much on a dress). You'll end up more confused than ever if you try the 2nd one on.

There are plenty of dresses I've seen (either in pictures or on friends) that I thought were beautiful and I loved, but I'm also super happy with my decision, and I always look at pictures of myself wearing it to remind me of how I felt that day.

Hopefully I can delete the picture later? But here's the dress! I did tweak the train on mine, and the color will be white

My dress was ordered in a different color as well. The sample I tried on was a size 24, i'm a size 16. It was hard to visualize but in the end I loved the gown even in the sample, thus I ordered it. Have you looked for photos of your gown in white?? Each time I got nervous, or unsure, I pulled up the photos of my gown, if when I tried the sample on, and it eased my concerns. My gown took almost six months to come, Its still at the bridal salon. I won't have it until the week before my wedding.

By looking at more dresses, you'll always second guess the one you ordered.

Sadly my dress is by Ysa Makino and they don't really post pictures of all their dresses online, nor do they have style numbers !!! So I haven't been able to see it in whiteSmiley sad it's KILLING me!! But I do agree that even though the samples weren't quite right we still ordered them! So that's saying something haha. I guess I gotta put my blinders on!

I say stick with the original dress. Also, it's very common for dresses to take 6-8 months to be made and arrive at the store for you, so I wouldn't factor that into your decision.

This dress is stunning. Way better than the 2nd one that your saying you like. And i can picture the crystals popping so much more when the fabric is white.

Oh my goodness this dress is absolutely gorgeous!! I can definitely see your dilemma of wanting to know exactly what it looks like since you weren't able to try it on in white, but I would trust yourself in this process. But like I said, if you receive your dress and it's just not what you had in mind, go for it! Until then, just try to picture it and know it's going to be gorgeous. Love this one!

Honestly your first dress is stunning. The second one doesn't really do it for me. It looks unfinished on the top, or like PP have said, like lingerie. Stop looking at dresses!

Your dress is beautiful - but dress regret is a thing. It all depends if you are willing to take the loss of your money on the first one (most boutiques will not refund you/cancel your order). If money is not an issue for you, and you think you can't live without at least trying the one you're eyeing then do it.

I end up with regret but I could not afford another one, I spent some extra in alterations to feel good in my dress and it was all worth it, on my wedding day I was glad I did not end up looking for a different dress, it was perfect and meat to be the dress all along.

We can't tell you how to spend your money - but if you want opinions on the dresses, I like the first one best (the one you already have).

Aww, I'm glad to hear your dress worked out perfectly!!!

I would feel pretty silly buying two dresses to only wear one.. So I was thinking about buying the other one second hand to save money on it.. But still!! A lot of money that I could possibly use more towards flowers. I think I'm just stressing out about the dress.. I'm hoping it comes out better than I'm envisioning!

Maybe wait to see it again around Christmas and try one with nice hair and makeup? You can re-love your dress! Smiley smile
