Wedding dress from China?

I bought my dress custom made from estys "the bridal witch" in Turkey. It shipped to Montana super fast once it was finished. I did order around "busy season" and am not getting married til June so the dress wasnt made as quickly as it could've been, but it turned out pretty amazing besides having to get a few alterations in the bust, and the front is a bit too long... didnt cost me much to alter and she she even did a matching flowergirl dress for my 6 year old! Both dresses alterations only costed $150 and both dresses only cost me $700. Highly recommend her shop! Oh, and renzrags or renzbridal on etsy. Were ordering bridesmaid dresses from renz and they've also got great reviews. I'd be weary about ordering from Ali express since they're a chinese company and have lots of sketchy reviews for dresses (google some "what dresses look like online vs real life" from their site 😳😅😂) ..DHGate seems hit or miss to me so if u order from them I'd just be sure to check review photos first. Not gonna lie.... I've looked at bridesmaids robes (for getting ready) and even boutonnieres from Ali Express - lol. Probably won't do either but would love to talk to a real person who did it to see what they were like!

My dress is from GuciDesigns on Etsy! I would recommend the shop if you know a good seamstress or can be handy with a sewing needle. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my dress, but was a little different from the stock photos (mainly the waist was higher and more blunt), and I needed to do some modifications to make it perfect.


The quality of materials was really nice though 😊 and if you find something with lots of customer reviews, you won't need to worry about this.

I ordered my reception dress from Cocomelody and they're based out of China. I was hesitant at first, but I was able to go to the store in LA and try styles on. It made me feel better about the process and quality of the dresses. My dress arrived 6 weeks after I ordered it and I'm in love, its beautiful and well made!

DHGate has some horrible reviews. Websites like TrustPilot or SiteJabber will often tell you which sites are scammy. I wouldn't buy from DHGate, TBDress, or Hebeos and the like.

I would be willing to buy overseas from someone on Etsy if they had a lot of positive reviews and good communication. Ask some questions before placing an order just to see how responsive they are to customer inquiries, and be sure to read reviews and fine print carefully. I think there are a lot of honest and skilled people in China, Russia, and other countries that can make beautiful dresses at a fraction of what things cost here because materials cost, labor laws, and exchange rates are so different. As long as you do your research first, I think buying from those countries via Etsy can be safe and a great way to save money on a dress.
