I am have a bit of a meltdown because I have run into my second wedding dress catastrophe due to COVID. I ordered a custom version of this beautiful dress (https://www.etsy.com/listing/777123979/grey-flower-wedding-dress-with-butterfly?ref=related-1&frs=1) from Etsy at the end of February. It was actually my second choice dress-- I ordered the first in January, but the seller cancelled a month later because she couldn't get the fabric I'd requested (the factory closed because of COVID). The new seller told me it would take 3-4 months to make, so at the latest, it should have arrived anywhere between the end of May to the end of June.
I hadn't anything from her since May, so I was starting to get antsy. I checked in-- and heard nothing. 3 days later, she told me her whole team got COVID so they're behind on making dresses. I asked for a timeline update and got no response. After asking again, she told me the dress would get to me by August-- my wedding is on September 4. I offered to pay to rush the order, but she said she couldn't rush it.
I don't want to be a bridezilla, but I'm freaking out. I'm plus size so dresses are already hard to find, especially nontraditional gowns. Plus, I have a medical condition that affects my metabolism, so my weight has changed since I bought the dress and I will likely need alterations. I panic bought a backup, but I had my heart set on this dress--I've hard months to dream about it! Is it a total asshole move to ask for her to commit to an earlier date than August or to send me a refund?
